“China Cup” Regatta: Thousands of Sails Set Sail

The 17th China Cup Regatta (Dec 13-16) features a “one regatta, two cities” format, including Hong Kong’s Around-the-Island Race and Shenzhen’s offshore events, with over 300 boats competing.

Sails dotted the waters of Victoria Harbour in Hong Kong as the 17th China Cup Regatta Hong Kong Around-the-Island Race got underway.

This edition of the regatta introduces the new Hong Kong Around-the-Island Race, enriching the event content and forming a large-scale competition structure featuring “one regatta, two cities, three race formats”. Participating teams competed in the Hong Kong Around-the-Island Race on December 13, took part in the Shenzhen-Hong Kong Rally on December 14, and then raced in the two-day offshore regatta in the waters of Daya Bay, Shenzhen on December 15 and 16.

On December 13, some 300 racing boats participated in the Hong Kong Around-the-Island Race, with their sails dotting Victoria Harbour. Competitions were held on the day for the Beneteau First 40.7 Class, IRC A Class, IRC B Class, PHS A Class and PHS B Class. Athletes experienced the charm of sailing through intense races while enjoying the beautiful scenery of Hong Kong Island. In the Beneteau First 40.7 Class competition, the Maimeng · Xiaoyao Sailing Team claimed the championship, the Wooden House BBQ Team took the second place, and the Shenzhen Evening News · Qinghui Team secured the third place.
