Walking Together Amid Landscapes, Co-Creating the “Millions of Projects” Vision

The 2025 Huizhou Taimei “Green Hiking in Wilderness” Trek & Plogging Event gathered 1,000+ participants, blending fitness, environmental protection and agricultural promotion to energize GBA’s ecological construction and rural development.

Recently, the 2025 Huizhou National Fitness “Green Hiking in Wilderness” Trek and Plogging Event (Boluo·Taimei Station) themed “Walking Together Amid Landscapes, Co-Creating the ‘Millions of Projects’ Vision” was held in the Xiangtou Mountain area. Nearly 1,000 outdoor sports enthusiasts, environmental volunteers, corporate teams, and parent-child families from the Pearl River Delta and surrounding regions gathered here. Through the combination of “healthy hiking + public welfare plogging”, they contributed to the ecological construction of Green and Beautiful Guangdong and injected vitality into the “Millions of Projects”.

Green Hiking in Wilderness

This event was hosted by the Party Committee and People’s Government of Taimei Town, organized by Huizhou Long-Distance Running Association and Huizhou Plogging Association, and co-organized by Xiangtou Mountain Forest Farm, Luoying Village Committee, Huizhou Daily·Huiletu, and Oriental Yonglong Aviation Technology Development (Guangdong) Co., Ltd.

Technology Empowers Environmental Protection and Green Conservation

Starting at 6:30 in the morning, the square of Huangni Tian Villager Group in Luoying Village became bustling. Participants arrived one after another to sign in and collect their race packs containing commemorative T-shirts, bib numbers, and other supplies, with expressions of anticipation on their faces. At exactly 8 o’clock, following the departure order, each group embarked on the hiking journey in an orderly manner. The guide team led the way ahead, and the sweep team followed closely behind to ensure the event proceeded safely and smoothly.

The event set two routes: a 21-kilometer full-distance group for exploring Xiangtou Mountain and a 6.8-kilometer leisure group for mountain forest strolls. Along the routes, there were not only natural and cultural attractions such as Mingzhu Zen Temple, Baicao Valley, and Lanzi Tea Garden, but also supply stations at key nodes providing mineral water, ganoderma water, sweet potatoes, bananas, and other supplies to escort the participants throughout the journey.

According to reports, this event attracted more than 800 participants from around the Pearl River Delta, and together with local volunteers, the total number reached nearly 1,000. On one hand, it aimed to help build Huizhou’s brand as the “Capital of Outdoor Sports in South China” through sports; on the other hand, it sought to gather popularity and drive the development of surrounding cultural tourism resources, catering, and accommodation industries.

During the hike, the concept of “sports + environmental protection” was evident everywhere, and the figures of civilized practice were also constantly visible. Participants held environmental garbage bags and picked up litter along the roadsides, in the grass, and in streams, guarding the green mountains and clear waters with practical actions. In many parent-child families, parents led their children to participate together, sowing the seeds of civilization through words and deeds.

What was even more eye-catching was the innovative measure of technology empowering environmental protection—the event arranged for drones to centrally hoist and transport the garbage collected by volunteers from the No. 3 supply station back to the main venue. Staff only needed to pack the garbage and hang it on the lifting rope, which greatly improved the cleaning efficiency. In addition, the garbage-for-prizes session made environmental protection actions more interesting, effectively boosting participants’ enthusiasm and making civilized practice more deeply rooted in people’s hearts through interaction.

Characteristic Bazaar Boosts Agriculture and Benefits Enterprises

The agricultural products bazaar set up at the event site became another major highlight. Booths of 10 agricultural enterprises including Shangshan Company, Lanzi Tea Garden, and Lushengyuan Ecological Agriculture were crowded with people, and a wide variety of characteristic agricultural products such as tea leaves, pineapples, sugar apples, and oil oranges were displayed. This is a vivid practice of Taimei Town exploring the integration of agriculture, culture, sports, and tourism to support the “Millions of Projects”. It not only broadened sales channels for farmers but also allowed participants to learn about Taimei’s characteristic agricultural products up close.

“We brought more than 3,000 bottles of Axe Brand Medicated Oil to distribute for free. Such public welfare activities are very meaningful,” said He Huanzhang, Guangdong Regional Manager of Guangdong Runzhi Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., adding that the company participates in various public welfare activities every year.

Cai Meiqian, person in charge of Huizhou Lushengyuan Ecological Agriculture Technology Co., Ltd., hoped that through on-site sales, more people would get to know her hometown’s characteristic products such as sweet oil oranges and sauropus androgynus, and enhance the brand influence of local agricultural products.

As a native of Boluo, Cai Yuanhui participated in the 21-kilometer full-distance hike. “Participating in such a large-scale event in my hometown for the first time was a profound experience, and I truly felt the happiness of local people,” he said. Having worked in other places for more than 10 years, he has now returned to his hometown to engage in the tourism industry. “With such excellent ecological resources, I think Taimei has great potential. I hope more people can come to experience the customs and traditions of Xiangtou Mountain.”

At the first supply station, hiking enthusiast Zhang Yixiang and his friends arrived carrying a banner that read “Life is a Wilderness, Not a Track”, attracting a lot of attention. “I have been paying attention to hiking events in Huizhou. This event was exceptionally well-organized, and the hiking environment with beautiful mountains and clear waters was fantastic. I will definitely come again next time,” he said.
