It was learned from the Public Security Police Force of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) Government that the total number of inbound and outbound trips through all Macao ports reached 235 million in 2025, a year-on-year increase of 9.8% and a record high. Among them, the number of visitors arriving in Macao stood at 40.06 million, jumping 14.7% year on year and also setting a new all-time high.
Of the visitors to Macao in 2025, mainland visitors accounted for 72.4% with 29.005 million arrivals; Hong Kong visitors made up 18.2% with 7.312 million; foreign visitors constituted 6.9% with 2.755 million; and visitors from Taiwan region accounted for 2.5% with 0.996 million.
In 2025, the cumulative number of inbound and outbound trips made by Zhuhai registered residents using the “one trip per week” endorsement for traveling to Macao, as well as by registered residents and residence permit holders of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin with the “multiple trips per endorsement” privilege, neared 6 million.
The passenger traffic of all four land ports saw an increase, accounting for 93% of Macao’s total port traffic. The Border Gate Port remained Macao’s busiest inbound and outbound port. Meanwhile, the Qingmao Port, Hengqin Port and Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Port all recorded their highest annual passenger traffic since their opening.
A relevant person in charge of the Public Security Police Force of the Macao SAR Government stated that with the expansion of iris recognition clearance to Hong Kong permanent residents and the gradual popularization of facial recognition smart clearance at Hengqin Port, the usage rate of various convenient clearance measures has been steadily rising. Faced with the growing demand for port clearance, the authorities will continue to make good use of technological means, innovate clearance modes, continuously enhance the carrying capacity of ports and further optimize the passenger clearance experience.
