Recently, sponsored by the Culture and Sports Bureau of the five cities (Shenzhen, Dongguan, Huizhou, Shanwei and Heyuan) and co-organized by Pingshan Cultural Center, the art gala themed Building the Chinese Dream Together, Singing the Songs of Happiness as One – the 2025 Art Gala of the Mobile Stage for Shenzhen, Dongguan, Huizhou, Shanwei & Heyuan (Shenzhen Special Session) was grandly presented at the Blooming Theatre.
The percussion performance Echoes of the Greater Bay Area kicked off the show. The resounding roll of the great drums and forceful rhythms beat in tune with the forging ahead pulse of the Greater Bay Area. The group dances in the gala each displayed unique artistic grace: Songs Flying Over Miaoling Mountains, with crisp silver ornaments and lively dance steps, showcased rich ethnic customs; Everlasting Affection expressed profound and lasting emotional bonds through stretching and lingering body movements.
The acrobatics Ballet on the Shoulder revealed elegance amid breathtaking thrills, and the fusion of strength and beauty held the audience spellbound. The magic show Destined Encounter incorporated on-site interactions, whose miraculous presentations drew gasps of amazement from the crowd. The allegro performance The 25,000-li Long March revisited the grand historical feat with brisk rhythms. The skit Salute paid homage to the greatness in the ordinary with a simple story, filling the stage with sincere warmth and profound respect.
In the Xiqin Opera excerpt Lotus Lamp · A Goddess’s Longing for Mortal Life, the performers, with exquisite costumes and gentle singing, portrayed the compassion and sincere love of the Goddess Sanshengmu. A fateful bond between the immortal and mortal worlds shimmered and glowed in the pristine and ancient tunes. The Hakka folk ballads performed with plucked instruments, Come Here, Pretty Girl and Young Lad, were narrated in a soothing way. Their melodious rhythms carry on the narrative tradition of Hakka folk songs while blending the lively vibe of modern arrangement, making people feel as if witnessing the ancient ballads reviving and blooming gently on the stage of a new era.
From the simple and sincere male solo We the Ordinary People, to the urban paean of female ensemble Hello, Shenzhen; from the powerful and bold The Rolling Yangtze River Flows Eastward, to the clear and melodious Ode to the Coral – each melody intertwined to depict the breath of the times, the memories of mountains and rivers, and the profound love cherished deep in people’s hearts. The finale Building the Chinese Dream Together struck up, with two vocalists singing soulfully in a duet, accompanied by graceful dance movements from the art troupe, pushing the atmosphere of the stage to its climax. The singing blended with the dancing figures, forming a stage vision brimming with hope and strength.
Inside the theatre, the audience hummed softly along with the music, held their breath for the breathtaking acrobatics, smiled knowingly at the touching plots of the skit, and responded actively to the performers during the interactive magic segment. After each performance, waves of applause surged towards the stage.
This art gala is an important practice to implement the cultural cooperation framework of the five cities in Guangdong Province. It has given full play to the advantages of geographical proximity and shared cultural roots, promoted the sharing and integration of regional cultural resources, and provided a valuable showcase platform for folk art troupes.
The event has not only enriched the spiritual life of grassroots residents and migrant builders, but also advanced the inclusiveness and equity of public cultural services, injecting warm and enduring artistic energy into the harmonious society.
