The 59th Hong Kong Brands and Products Expo Draws Around 1.36 Million Visitors

The 59th Hong Kong Brands and Products Expo, organized by the Chinese Manufacturers’ Association of Hong Kong (CMA), concluded on January 5. Spanning 24 days, the expo attracted approximately 1.36 million visitors and generated sales of around HK$1 billion. Both figures registered an increase compared with the previous session, demonstrating the vibrant vitality of Hong Kong’s consumer market.

Lo Kam-wing, President of the CMA, stated that Hong Kong’s retail market had improved significantly over the past year, with a rising number of tourists visiting the city during the Christmas and New Year period, creating a bustling consumption atmosphere. Seizing the opportunities proactively, the expo implemented a series of initiatives to effectively boost foot traffic and fully unleash the consumption potential of local residents and tourists. These measures included extending business hours during specific periods, offering free admission to tourists and evening visitors, collaborating with exhibitors to provide hundreds of discount offers, and distributing gifts worth a total of HK$4 million.

Simon Shi, Vice President of the CMA and Chairman of Exhibition Services Limited, noted that the expo is not only an annual shopping extravaganza but also a platform for conveying social care and promoting community integration. During the event, the organizing committee provided free booths to multiple charitable organizations, social enterprises and rehabilitation institutions. It also arranged free admission for vulnerable groups such as the elderly, grassroots residents and single-parent families, helping them purchase their favorite products and fulfilling social responsibilities actively.

On the final day of the expo, the venue was still bustling with crowds. Many citizens seized the last chance to buy their desired goods. Ms. Wong, a local resident carrying shopping bags filled with ginseng, antler, seafood and New Year goods, said, “There are plenty of discounts at this year’s expo and the atmosphere is great. Today is the last day, and many brands are offering extra discounts. I specially came for a shopping spree again to prepare for the Chinese New Year.”

It is reported that the upcoming expo will mark the significant milestone of the 60th session. The CMA stated that it will continue to innovate and bring more high-quality and diverse experiences to citizens and tourists.
