This winter, the renovation project of 11 flood-prone bridges in Longmen County is in full swing. As a key project among the top 10 livelihood projects of Longmen County in 2025, the renovation of flood-prone bridges is not only related to the safe travel of the masses, but also connects the agricultural and tourism development vein of the high-quality development leading area of towns and villages around South Kunshan and Luofu Mountain. It solves the “travel congestion points” with “livelihood temperature” and injects solid momentum into rural revitalization.
“In the past, this bridge was only 4 meters wide and had no guardrails at all. When the stream water rose during rainstorms, adults and children had to edge slowly across the bridge, feeling anxious and fearful,” said Chen Xuhui, deputy director of Xinliao Village Committee, standing on the new Yuanben Bridge in Longtan Town. The new bridge is 35 meters long and 8.5 meters wide, with improved flood control standards, and can ensure the safe passage of vehicles and pedestrians even in rainstorm weather.
Reporters saw that the renovated Yuanben Bridge has clear markings and firm guardrails, with cars and electric vehicles shuttling in an orderly manner. Several villagers were walking across the bridge with freshly picked vegetables, smiles on their faces. “Now the bridge is wider and the road is smoother. It only takes more than ten minutes to ride a motorcycle to sell agricultural products in the town,” said Aunt Li, a villager.
At the construction site of Niulangang Bridge on Y162 Line in Longjiang Town, machines roared and welding sparks splashed. Construction workers performed their respective duties and carried out the pouring of substructure and the installation of bridge deck beam reinforcement in an orderly manner. “The total investment of this bridge is more than 910,000 yuan. Construction started at the end of October, and the foundation and abutment construction have been completed so far. It is expected to be completed and opened to traffic in the near future,” introduced Liang Yongquan, person in charge of the Second Infrastructure Department of the County Transportation Comprehensive Service Center.
It is reported that this year’s flood-prone bridge renovation project in Longmen covers 11 bridges. At present, 7 have been completed and opened to traffic, and 4 are under accelerated construction, which is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
