Organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao Special Administrative Region, the 7th “Meet in Macao – China-Portuguese-speaking Countries Cultural Arts Festival” rolled out 7 series of programs from October to December last year. Gathering over 780 artists and performers from home and abroad, the festival staged more than 80 splendid events and extended activities. Held at venues including world cultural heritage buildings, community public spaces and professional theaters, it presented the vivid interplay of cultures from different regions, showcased Macao’s multicultural allure, and attracted over 60,000 participants.

The “2025 Galaxy Entertainment Lusophone Carnival” focused on Angolan culture, featuring local specialty delicacies and portrait sketch art to display unique exotic customs. With the theme of “Crossing Boundaries”, the 7th China-Portuguese-speaking Countries Film Festival screened nearly 30 selected works from East Asia and Portuguese-speaking regions, bringing movie fans a cross-cultural and cross-regional cinematic feast.

“Galaxy Entertainment Presents: Community Traditional Song and Dance Performances” invited the School of Music of Guangdong University of Technology and Art Education, as well as art troupes from Portuguese-speaking countries and regions including Angola, Guinea-Bissau, Cape Verde, Timor-Leste, Brazil, Mozambique, Equatorial Guinea, and Goa, Daman and Diu. They staged 14 enthusiastic and joyful song and dance performances for the public, extending the artistic atmosphere to every corner of Macao.

The China-Portuguese-speaking Countries Picture Book Exhibition, themed “Fairy-Tale World”, offered over 800 types of books for sale and exhibition. It also held book promotion events, hand puppet shows, painting experiences and multiple interactive workshops, deepening the public’s understanding of the publishing cultures of China and Portuguese-speaking countries. This edition of the cultural arts festival specially presented Concert of Brazilian Renowned Singer Vanessa da Mata and Macao Chinese Orchestra, which cleverly blended the unique melody of Oriental music with the passionate and distinctive rhythms of South America, demonstrating the unique charm of the integration of Chinese and Brazilian music.

At the “Spiritual Chronicles – 2025 China-Portuguese-speaking Countries Art Annual Exhibition”, artists from the Chinese mainland, Macao and Portuguese-speaking countries presented 28 pieces/series of contemporary artworks including paintings, sculptures, videos and installations, leading the audience on a spiritual journey of self-reflection. The exhibition will run until March 1 this year.
In addition, the “China-Portuguese-speaking Countries Taste Workshop” held 3 pour-over coffee workshops and 3 parent-child chocolate carving experience workshops. Guided by professional instructors, participants experienced the integration of Chinese and Portuguese cultures in coffee and cocoa art, savored the aesthetic of Sino-Portuguese daily life, and further expanded the participation of the arts festival.
