From December 16 to 18, the 2025 Marketing and Sales Matchmaking Event for Agricultural and Sideline Products in Poverty-Alleviated Areas was held at the Green Agricultural Product Production and Supply Base of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (Guangdong·Huizhou). This marked the second time that the event has been held in Boluo County. Over 400 types of agricultural and specialty products from Boluo County, together with nearly 10,000 varieties of high-quality characteristic agricultural and sideline products from across the country, made their debut on this national platform. As this national agricultural grand event settles in Boluo for the second time, besides gaining more popularity for Boluo’s agriculture, what else has it brought? Expanded sales channels? Aerospace Agricultural Products Gain Great Popularity On-site
At the 2025 Marketing and Sales Matchmaking Event for Agricultural and Sideline Products in Poverty-Alleviated Areas, nearly 10,000 varieties of high-quality characteristic agricultural and sideline products from 306 national-level poverty-alleviated counties in 22 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government) were displayed collectively. During the event, the exhibition hall was bustling with crowds, including food lovers tasting delicacies and purchasers seeking business opportunities. Preliminary statistics show that nearly 40,000 people visited the exhibition over the three days.
On this national large-scale agricultural exhibition platform, more than 20 agricultural enterprises from Boluo County showcased over 400 types of agricultural and specialty products.
“Wow! All these vegetables are so unique!” At the Huizhou Exhibition Hall, the aerospace agricultural products displayed in the Boluo Exhibition Area caught everyone’s attention. Aerospace Sulao vegetables grow as large as a basin with luxuriant leaves, aerospace wax gourds measure over one meter in length, and aerospace Futian flowering Chinese cabbage features tall stems and long cores… Their novelty, uniqueness and special traits made them the star attractions on-site. Ms. ying from Jilin Province was instantly drawn to them: “This is my first time seeing such huge wax gourds and leaf vegetables (aerospace Sulao vegetables).”
It is learned that as China’s first county-level experimental demonstration base for space breeding, the Agricultural Science and Technology Demonstration Farm of Boluo County has cumulatively demonstrated and promoted 9,522 superior new varieties, covering a planting area of more than 450,000 mu (approx. 30,000 hectares). The Huzhen wax gourds cultivated through space breeding yield up to 15,000 kg per mu, and the space-bred Futian flowering Chinese cabbage can be harvested in about 60 days after sowing with a picking period extended to one month.
As a major agricultural county in Guangdong Province, Boluo’s agricultural product catalogue includes not only local specialties such as mountain tea, Futian flowering Chinese cabbage, Luofu Mountain rice and Sanhuang bearded chickens, but also processed agricultural and specialty products like Luofu Mountain tofu pudding, cured meat, mountain tea noodles and egg rolls. A variety of delicacies and agricultural specialties have attracted numerous citizens and purchasers to stop for tasting and inquiry.
The rising popularity of Boluo’s agricultural and specialty products is no accident. As an important agricultural production area in Guangdong, Boluo boasts beautiful mountains, clear waters and fresh air. According to the County Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Boluo has 6 national-level famous, high-quality, new and special agricultural products, 7 geographical indication protected products, 37 “Guangdong Brand” agricultural products, and 21 agricultural products under the “Luofu Mountain” regional public brand series. In terms of processing, Boluo has built industrial bases including the world’s largest Ganten Centennial Mountain production base and the Green Agricultural Product Production and Supply Base of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. It also has one national-level and one provincial-level industrial cluster project, six provincial and municipal modern agricultural industrial parks, and two national-level leading enterprises.

Agricultural Enterprises Launch New Products and Secure Orders
“I participated in this event last year and secured some orders.” Yang Zhifeng, founder of Boluo Luofu Jinqiu Food Co., Ltd., attended the event for the second time. He believes that this event is not only a display platform for agricultural and specialty products, but also a grand stage for building agricultural brands and expanding product sales channels.
Last year, he promoted cured meat products at the matchmaking event. After the event, many purchasers and citizens took the initiative to contact him for repeat purchases of cured meat products. This year, he brought a variety of innovative products with local flavors, especially the new preserved vegetable cured meat. “I have been researching and developing this product for many years, and it has been officially put into mass production this year,” he said, adding that he hopes to promote the new product through this platform. On-site, the new product received a positive market response, with many citizens placing orders and numerous purchasers exchanging contact information with him.
Yang Fengbo, general manager of Huizhou Zhongnong Dingsheng Agricultural Co., Ltd., participated in the event for the first time. He said that the event has gathered purchasers from all over the country, holding great business opportunities. In addition to the traditional Baitang mountain tea, he brought a newly developed lychee black tea named Dongpo Hong. It is reported that Dongpo Hong is fermented from Baitang mountain tea and Luofu fairy lychees, combining the fragrance of tea and lychee. He stated that this is the official launch of the new product, and orders from Beijing have already been secured.
Guangdong Jiuxiong Industrial Co., Ltd. in Huzhen Town of Boluo County also exhibited for the first time. Yang Rongtian, the person in charge of the company, told reporters that they brought a new product – lychee wine, which immediately attracted a purchaser from Xinjiang upon arrival.
Insights for the Future
Empowering Agriculture with Science and Technology to Extend the Industrial Chain
Processed agricultural products with intensive processing have drawn wide attention at this exhibition. Primary and deep processing of agricultural products has increased their added value, extended the industrial chain, and created more possibilities for development. Booths from Guizhou, Inner Mongolia, Xizang and many other regions offer a full range of fruit derivatives such as fruit juice, fruit powder and fruit cakes.
Sea buckthorn is a major agricultural and specialty product in Xinjiang. The Xinjiang Exhibition Area displayed a variety of sea buckthorn processed products, including puree, juice and fruit powder. Hu Yue, Marketing Director of Xinjiang Zhongke Sea Buckthorn Technology Co., Ltd., introduced that deep processing has not only increased the added value of sea buckthorn, but also fully boosted local employment, achieving a “double harvest” of ecological and economic benefits.
Boluo has also carried out vivid practices in transforming from primary agricultural production to secondary industry. In 2024, the output value of the county’s modern food industry reached 11.78 billion yuan, and Boluo was selected as a pilot county for food industry cultivation in Guangdong Province.
An upgrade and transformation of modern agriculture is quietly taking place in Boluo. On November 14, the launch of the scientific and technological support for the construction of characteristic agricultural industrial system in Boluo County by the Guangdong Academy of Agricultural Sciences (GAAS) kicked off. The in-depth cooperation between the academy and the local government takes science and technology as the core driving force, runs through the entire agricultural industrial chain, and promotes the standardized production, large-scale operation, brand-oriented development and efficient market matchmaking of Boluo’s characteristic agricultural products. It also accelerates the in-depth integration of agriculture, culture and tourism, injecting strong momentum into Boluo’s agricultural modernization drive.
GAAS and Boluo County will systematically deploy scientific and technological support and services focusing on six key areas: technological upgrading of six characteristic industries including tea, Sanhuang bearded chicken, Futian flowering Chinese cabbage, lychee, southern medicinal herbs and indica rice; as well as five priority fields including space breeding and base construction, the construction of agricultural product supply chain in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the building of Luofu Mountain agricultural product brand, the protection and utilization of water and soil resources, and the integrated development of the primary, secondary and tertiary industries of the tea industry in Baitang Town.
When traditional agriculture is deeply connected with modern science and technology and the national market, the development of county-level agriculture will break geographical restrictions and compose a brand-new chapter of rural revitalization on a broader stage. Looking to the future, with the implementation of the scientific and technological support system by GAAS, Boluo’s agriculture will forge ahead steadily along the path of standardized production, brand-oriented operation and industrialized development.

The collective display of Boluo’s agricultural products at the 2025 Marketing and Sales Matchmaking Event for Agricultural and Sideline Products in Poverty-Alleviated Areas has demonstrated the in-depth transformation of county-level agriculture. This national grand event is not only a window for product exhibition and sales, but also an important catalyst for the transformation and upgrading of Boluo’s agriculture.
Among the more than 400 types of agricultural and specialty products from Boluo, aerospace agricultural products stand out as the highlight. Relying on the scientific and technological support of China’s first county-level experimental demonstration base for space breeding, Boluo has achieved a qualitative leap from traditional agricultural products to science and technology-based products. This transformation has not only attracted the attention of on-site purchasers, but also reshaped the industrial image of Boluo’s agriculture. Luofu Jinqiu Food has seen an increase in orders through consecutive participation in the event, and Zhongnong Dingsheng’s lychee black tea secured orders from Beijing at its debut. These cases show that national platforms provide opportunities for brand premium of county-level agricultural products, driving enterprises to shift from simple product sales to brand value construction.
It is worth pondering that cases such as the deep processing of sea buckthorn in Xinjiang provide a reference development path for Boluo. When scientific and technological innovation meets traditional farming, and local characteristics meet the national platform, Boluo’s agriculture is writing a brand-new chapter of its own. At present, Boluo is cooperating with GAAS to promote the technological upgrading of six characteristic industries, a move that indicates Boluo’s agriculture will extend from a single production model to a full industrial chain, and build a new pattern of modern agriculture with the in-depth integration of agriculture, culture and tourism.
