Organized by the Macao Economic and Technological Development Bureau (hereinafter referred to as “the Bureau”), the “Delegation of Portuguese-speaking Countries’ Sci-Tech Enterprises Visiting the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area” (hereinafter referred to as “the Delegation”) was successfully held from November 29 to December 7. The delegation visited sci-tech enterprises and government departments in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (hereinafter referred to as “the Greater Bay Area”) and the Guangdong-Macao In-depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin (hereinafter referred to as “the Cooperation Zone”) successively, and set up a booth at the “Global Expo on Intelligent Machinery and Electronic Products” (hereinafter referred to as “AIE”) held in Macao. The Bureau believes that the event will help deepen the understanding of Brazilian and Portuguese sci-tech enterprises on the sci-tech ecosystem and business environment in Macao, Hengqin and the Greater Bay Area, and promote their exchanges with enterprises in the region.
The delegation consists of about 30 representatives from 24 Brazilian and Portuguese institutions including sci-tech enterprises, universities, incubators and associations, among which are the winning teams of the “Brazilian-Portuguese Sci-Tech Enterprises (Macao) Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition” in 2024 and 2025. During the trip, the delegation first visited the China-Portuguese (Spanish-speaking) Countries Economic and Trade Service Center in the Cooperation Zone to learn about the general situation of sci-tech industry development and supporting policies in the zone. Later, they went to Zhuhai, Guangzhou, Dongguan and Shenzhen respectively, visited a number of sci-tech enterprises in the Greater Bay Area, and held roadshows and forums, enabling Brazilian and Portuguese sci-tech enterprises to further understand the sci-tech policies, innovation atmosphere, business environment and foreign cooperation in the Greater Bay Area.
In addition, under the organization of the Bureau, Brazilian and Portuguese sci-tech enterprises also set up exhibitions at AIE, and at the same time, exchanges were arranged with a number of domestic and overseas investment institutions, sci-tech enterprises and university teams to strengthen sci-tech interaction. During the event, 3 Brazilian sci-tech enterprises completed registration procedures in Macao and 1 Brazilian sci-tech enterprise in Hengqin, and a total of 7 cooperation agreements were signed.
The participating Brazilian and Portuguese sci-tech enterprises generally considered the inspection trip practical and efficient, and gained more confidence in expanding the Macao and mainland markets. In the future, the Bureau will continue to build a two-way service platform for “bringing in” and “going out”, give full play to Macao’s unique advantage of connecting the mainland and overseas, accurately match the demand for innovative elements between China and Portuguese-speaking countries, and promote sci-tech exchanges and cooperation.
