Bridging the “Last Mile” of AI Implementation: Macao Digital Medical Intelligence Association Boosts Smart Healthcare Innovation and Cooperation in the GBA

On Nov 29, 2025, the GBA AI & Robotics Industry Exchange Conference was held in Guangzhou. Focused on bridging AI’s “last mile”, it featured cross-border discussions on smart healthcare, with Macao’s Digital Medical AI Association leading collaboration for innovation.

On November 29, 2025, the 2025 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Science and Technology Collaborative Innovation Alliance Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Industry Application Innovation Exchange Conference (hereinafter referred to as the “Exchange Conference”) was successfully held at the International Campus of South China University of Technology. Guided by the Guangdong Association for Science and Technology and the Guangdong Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Industry Alliance, the conference was co-hosted by the Guangzhou Association for Science and Technology, Shenzhen Association for Science and Technology, Beijing-Hong Kong Academic Exchange Centre, and Macao Association for Science and Technology Advancement. With the theme of “Intelligently Connecting the Greater Bay Area, Empowering a New Future”, the conference built an efficient communication platform for the collaborative innovation of the artificial intelligence and robotics industry in the Greater Bay Area through multiple sections such as keynote speeches, roundtable dialogues, and achievement exhibitions.

Cheng Hongbo, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Full-time Vice Chairman of the Guangdong Association for Science and Technology, and Xu Liu, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Vice Chairman of the Guangzhou Association for Science and Technology, delivered speeches respectively. Cheng Hongbo stated that it is expected to rely on the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Science and Technology Collaborative Innovation Alliance to build a regular science and technology cooperation platform, injecting new momentum into gathering young innovative talents and promoting the development of high-tech industries in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao. Xu Liu emphasized that the exchange conference aims to build a bridge for pragmatic cooperation among various parties, and hopes that guests will use the platform to promote more innovative achievements in artificial intelligence and robotics to take root in the Greater Bay Area.

David Zhang

Academician David Zhang, Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering, and Dean of the School of Data Science at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, delivered a speech titled AI Empowerment – Boosting Industrial Innovation, which deeply analyzed how AI technology drives industrial innovation, accelerates the implementation of technological applications, and elaborated on the new path for the integrated development of AI and the real economy.

Tian Yonghong

Professor Tian Yonghong, Vice Dean of Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School and Deputy Director of the Intelligent Computing Department of Pengcheng Laboratory, brought Robust Embodied Intelligent Systems Based on World Models, introducing the team’s research breakthroughs in the direction of world models and embodied intelligence, which provided important enlightenment for the future development of autonomous intelligence of robots.

Focusing on Implementation Challenges: Discussing Solutions for AI Application Breakthroughs – Our Chairman Wang Han Invited to Participate in Roundtable Dialogue

In the roundtable dialogue session hosted by Zhang Yin, Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of the Guangdong Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Industry Alliance, guests conducted in-depth discussions around the theme of “Bridging the ‘Last Mile’ of AI Implementation: Challenges and Solutions for the Scenario-based Implementation of Artificial Intelligence Technology”.

From the perspectives of “smart healthcare” and “cross-border resource linkage”, Wang Han, Chairman of our association, shared the key challenges in the implementation of artificial intelligence in medical and health scenarios, including data governance, model supervision, algorithm security and clinical scenario adaptability. He also put forward ideas for promoting the construction of the Greater Bay Area’s AI medical ecology through multi-modal medical data fusion, explainable artificial intelligence (XAI) mechanisms, and cross-regional scientific research collaboration, which received widespread attention from the participating guests.

Presenting Industrial Achievements: Promoting Docking and Cooperation – AI and Robotics Technology Innovation Exhibition Held Simultaneously

The artificial intelligence and robotics technology innovation exhibition held concurrently with the conference built a physical platform for achievement transformation and cooperation docking between enterprises and scientific research institutions. Macao’s Sci-tech Forces Actively Participate in Bay Area Cooperation

Macao Digital Medical and Artificial Intelligence Association has continuously promoted the application research and industrial implementation of artificial intelligence in the field of medical and health. In this exchange conference, in addition to Chairman Wang Han being invited to express his views, Xie Huahan, Standing Committee Member of our association, and Dr. Zhou Junjie, Professional Committee Member, also attended the event together, conducted in-depth exchanges with experts from all walks of life in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, and further deepened the association’s cooperation network in the scientific and technological innovation system of the Greater Bay Area.
