A group of high-quality homestay investors explored Zhuhai’s Wanshan Islands in a promotion event, inspecting local homestay clusters and old houses. Wanshan has built the “Wanshan Island Stays” brand with 182 accommodation businesses by July 2025 to boost island high-quality development.

Recently, high-quality homestay investors from Xinjiang, Sanya, Zhanjiang, Heyuan and other places gathered in the Wanshan Islands of Zhuhai to participate in a series of homestay development promotion activities themed “Meeting of Mountains and Seas, Talking about the Future of Homestays”. The event aims to build a communication and cooperation platform to promote the quality and efficiency of the homestay industry, and it is an important measure for Wanshan District to steadily advance the “Hundred-Thousand-Million Project” and promote the high-quality development of the islands.

On the first day, the inspection team visited Wailingding Island to personally experience its unique charm where “mountains, seas, history and temples” blend together. The mature homestay cluster provided an intuitive reference for investors, among which several representative homestays have their own characteristics: Shanhai Yunman Inn is famous for its wide sea view and thoughtful service; Youhuo Hotel, positioned as a “light luxury resort”, has an occupancy rate of over 80% during the tourist peak season and has become a popular check-in spot on social platforms, with an operating income of 6.6 million yuan in 2024.

On the second day, the inspection team went to Dangan Island, which has a low development intensity and intact ecology. The nature reserve on the island where nearly 2,000 macaques live, the style of traditional villages, and the vegetation coverage rate of nearly 90% form the original and quiet ecological foundation. In the old residential area of Danganwei, investors showed strong interest in the old houses retaining the style of blue bricks and black tiles, believing that they have superior conditions for “micro-renovation and refined upgrading” and can be built into “hidden” high-end homestays that meet the needs of high-net-worth customer groups, realizing the balance between ecological protection and development.

In recent years, Wanshan District has been committed to building the distinctive island-themed brand of “Wanshan Island Stays” and further expanding and strengthening the island homestay industry. As of July 2025, Wanshan District has a total of 182 accommodation businesses, providing 4,277 guest rooms and 6,510 beds, mainly distributed in Guishan Island, Wailingding Island and Dawanshan Island.
