This New Year Concert boasts an all-star lineup. The baton will be wielded by Jing Huan, the Resident Conductor of the China National Symphony Orchestra, Artistic Director of the Guangzhou Youth Symphony Orchestra and Director of the Chinese Musicians Association. Renowned for her precise and dynamic conducting style, she has led numerous major state-level performances and earned high acclaim. The concert also brings together a galaxy of world-class artists: baritone Wang Yunpeng, lauded by Plácido Domingo; cellist Nie Jiapeng, highly praised by international music critics; and soprano He Niwen, a laureate of prestigious international music competitions. This top-tier cast is set to amplify the heartwarming festive atmosphere of the year cross-over to the fullest.

The repertoire features classic pieces from both Chinese and international repertoires, striking a perfect balance between grandeur and delicate emotions. The concert will open with Festival Overture, kicking off with stirring and passionate rhythms. It will be followed by a succession of masterpieces including Acrobats’ Dance and Wild Dance on the Highland, which blend exotic flair with distinctive Chinese artistic charm. Melodies such as Capriccio on the Theme of Wild Geese, selected excerpts from Swan Lake Suite, classic waltzes and The Four Little Swans will take the audience on a nostalgic journey through timeless classics. In addition, iconic arias from La Traviata and The Barber of Seville will showcase the captivating allure of vocal music.

Notably, on January 2, the China National Symphony Orchestra will continue the musical feast at the same venue with a New Year Chamber Music Concert. Four young virtuosi from the orchestra will perform as the Peace String Quartet, an acclaimed ensemble that has clinched a host of top international awards including the Platinum Prize at the Queen Elisabeth International Music Competition of Belgium. Their consummate musicianship will treat the audience to a more refined and delicate auditory experience.

As a pacesetter in the development of symphonic music in China, the China National Symphony Orchestra shoulders the dual mission of promoting classic repertoire and driving cultural innovation. The staging of these two consecutive performances in Longgang is more than a splendid New Year artistic gift for the citizens: it brings refined art into public life, injecting fresh vitality into the cultural development of the city. Through the universal language of music, the two concerts will build an emotional bridge, accompanying the citizens to embrace a brand-new year immersed in beautiful melodies.
