On December 20, the 2025 Guangzhou Film Industry Expo and Trade Fair, the 3rd China Film Derivatives Industry Conference and Guangzhou Film Copyright Commercialization Promotion Conference kicked off at the Guangzhou Yuexiu International Convention Center. Invited to deliver a themed promotion, Conghua District comprehensively showcased its advantages and supporting measures in the development of the film and television industry, and simultaneously launched the Greater Bay Area (Guangzhou Conghua) Short Video Image Season. With light and shadow as the medium, it links industrial resources to promote the high-quality development of the film and television industry.
Hosted by the People’s Government of Guangzhou Municipality, this conference aims at the commercialization of the film copyright market. It sets up core sections such as film and television tourism copyright authorization and promotion, and film derivatives industry development seminars, gathering top domestic and foreign copyright holders, IP production enterprises and cultural tourism institutions to build a high-end platform for industrial exchange and cooperation. The wonderful appearance of Conghua District has attracted widespread attention.
During the promotion session, Conghua District shared its superior ecological endowments and profound film and television heritage. As an ecological garden in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Conghua not only boasts the best ecological resources of mountains, rivers, forests, farmlands and lakes in Guangzhou, but also has historical and cultural heritages such as the Shixiangyan Site and the Guangyu Ancestral Hall, as well as high-end platforms including the National Archives of Publications and Culture, Guangzhou and the Hong Kong Jockey Club Conghua Racecourse, showing distinct location and transportation advantages. As early as the last century, Conghua has become a fertile ground for film and television creation. The classic scene of bamboo rafts drifting along the Liuxi River in Sparkling Red Star, the romantic scene of the “Love Bridge” in Romance on Lushan Mountain were both shot here, and many works such as Long Live the Youth have made Conghua’s film and television card deeply rooted in people’s hearts.
At present, guided by the “100-County, 1000-Township, 10000-Village High-Quality Development Project”, Conghua is seizing the opportunity of building the leading area for high-quality development of counties, towns and villages around Nan Kun Mountain and Luo Fu Mountain, and striving to create a new highland for the film and television industry. Up to now, 87 film and television, animation related enterprises have been registered in the district, more than 10 feature films and online movies are being shot, and the number of film crews received in 2025 has increased by 200% year-on-year. To escort industrial development, Conghua has built a three-in-one development system of “policy guidance, platform empowerment and talent support”: it has issued policies such as Several Measures of Conghua District for Promoting the Development of the Film and Television Industry to provide financial support and shooting guarantee for enterprises; it plans to build the “Greater Bay Area International Digital and Intelligent Audio-visual Service Valley” and “Greater Bay Area International Creator Ecological Valley” to construct a full-chain audio-visual industry ecosystem; it deepens university-local cooperation, cultivates film and television professionals relying on 9 universities in the district, and gives special support to high-level leading talents, injecting a steady stream of innovative vitality into industrial development.
At this conference, the Greater Bay Area (Guangzhou Conghua) Short Video Image Season was launched simultaneously. With the theme of “The Greater Bay Area’s Ecology in the Lens, Conghua Speaks to the World”, the event opens a 3-month call for entries to creators around the world. The Image Season sets three collection directions: the main track, the special track and the international track, encouraging creators to focus on the natural, cultural and life scenes of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and Conghua for diversified creation. The entries will compete for awards through preliminary review, re-evaluation, online popularity selection and other links, and the winning authors can also be included in the Conghua District Image Creation Support Program.
This promotion and the launch of the Image Season are important measures for Conghua to actively link film industry resources and promote the integrated development of culture and tourism.
