Recently, Dongchong Community of Nan’ao Sub-district Office in Dapeng New District successfully held the 2025 Annual Volunteer Service Summary Activity themed “One Community, One Brand, Volunteerism Shines in Dongchong”. Guided by the philosophy of Dedication – Motivation – Co-construction, the activity systematically summarized the annual volunteer service work through such sessions as points redemption, team building and recognition of outstanding volunteers. It has effectively stimulated the endogenous motivation of the community and further consolidated the foundation for residents’ joint construction and governance under the guidance of Party building.
During the activity, the community strictly followed the rule of “one hour of service for one point”, and provided a total of 100 pieces of daily necessities including rice, edible oil and laundry detergent for volunteers as point rewards. This open and transparent mechanism effectively converts volunteer service hours into tangible incentives, successfully encouraging over 90% of active volunteers to keep participating in services, and forming a sound cycle of Contribution – Accumulation – Reward.
The team building session focused on enhancing the cohesion and service efficiency of the volunteer team. By organizing 30 core volunteers to participate in collaborative training and experience sharing, the activity has effectively strengthened the team’s sense of identity and coordinated service capacity. Meanwhile, 5 suggestions for service optimization were collected in the activity, which provided practical basis for the planning of subsequent projects and improvement of service processes, and further promoted the development of volunteer services towards standardization and professionalism.
The recognition session gave full play to the exemplary and leading role of outstanding volunteers. The Community Party Committee publicly commended 10 outstanding volunteers who ranked high in annual service hours, among whom 4 are frontline volunteers engaged in maritime safety patrols. This move demonstrated the community’s respect and recognition for the contributions of volunteer services, and encouraged more residents to transform from “onlookers” to active participants.
After eight years of cultivation, the brand of “Volunteerism Shines in Dongchong” has developed a professional volunteer service system covering various fields. Up to now, there are 254 registered volunteers in the community, who have provided more than 2,800 hours of volunteer services including maritime safety patrols, cultural and tourism promotion, and environmental cleaning over the year, with a total participation of more than 1,300 person-times. Within the year, the volunteers have dissuaded over 500 person-times of unsafe maritime behaviors, held more than 100 cultural and tourism promotion events, and cleaned up over 10,000 square meters of the community environment. The supporting role of volunteer services in community governance has become increasingly prominent.
Moving forward, Dongchong Community will continue to optimize the service platform and innovate the mobilization mechanism, and keep polishing the brand of “Volunteerism Shines in Dongchong”. It will guide more residents to integrate into the pattern of joint construction, joint governance and shared benefits of the community, so as to contribute more to the high-quality development of Nan’ao and help Dapeng New District build a world-class coastal eco-tourism resort.
