Make Full Use of Unique Advantages, Pool Wisdom and Strength Extensively to Make Greater Contributions to Creating a New Situation for Guangzhou’s Modernization Drive

On January 6, Feng Zhonghua, Secretary of the CPC Guangzhou Municipal Committee, paid a visit and conducted research at the office of the Guangzhou Municipal Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and the offices of the municipal committees of various democratic parties, where he visited the office staff and solicited opinions and suggestions. He emphasized that we must adhere to the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, thoroughly study and implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speeches and instructions on Guangdong and Guangzhou, unwaveringly uphold and improve the system of multi-party cooperation and political consultation under the leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC), carry forward fine traditions, keep in mind political responsibilities, and make full use of unique advantages to extensively unite people, build consensus, pool wisdom and gather strength for ensuring a good start and solid progress of Guangzhou’s 15th Five-Year Plan period and striving to create a new situation for its modernization drive. At the Guangzhou Municipal CPPCC office, Feng Zhonghua visited the “Home of CPPCC Members” to inspect the exhibition showcasing the achievements of the Guangzhou Municipal CPPCC in consultation and deliberation on state affairs. He then held a forum to hear a work report of the municipal CPPCC, exchanged views with members of its leading body and office staff, and fully acknowledged the significant contributions made by the municipal CPPCC and its members to Guangzhou’s development. He stressed that CPPCC organizations at all levels and CPPCC members across the city should thoroughly study and implement General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important thoughts on strengthening and improving the work of the CPPCC, resolutely implement the decisions and arrangements of the CPC Central Committee and the work requirements of the CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee, adhere to the organic integration of Party leadership, the united front and consultative democracy, give play to the role of the CPPCC as a specialized consultative body, continuously improve the level of political consultation, democratic supervision, and participation in the deliberation and administration of state affairs, so as to make greater contributions to fulfilling the mission and tasks entrusted by General Secretary Xi Jinping and the CPC Central Committee, and promoting high-quality development and modernization of Guangzhou. We must uphold and strengthen the Party’s overall leadership over the CPPCC work, strengthen the armed forces with the Party’s innovative theories, firmly uphold the Two Establishments and resolutely achieve the Two Safeguards, and consciously maintain a high degree of consistency with the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core in terms of ideology, politics and actions. We should focus on the central work to perform duties and responsibilities, take advantage of the gathering of talents and intensive wisdom, conduct research and put forward suggestions closely focusing on key tasks such as the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the development and opening-up of Nansha, and the construction of a modern industrial system, make good use of platforms and carriers such as the “Public Proposals”, absorb valuable ideas and collect constructive voices, conduct supervision focusing on key issues, and effectively serve as participants, practitioners and promoters of the practice of Chinese-style modernization in Guangzhou. We should extensively unite people and gather strength, strengthen unity and friendship with various political parties, groups, people of all ethnic groups and from all walks of life, maintain close ties with people from all sectors represented by CPPCC members, deepen democratic consultation through platforms such as “Let’s Discuss Matters Amicably”, assist Party committees and governments in policy promotion and expectation guidance, and better boost confidence, unite people, warm hearts and build consensus for Guangzhou’s high-quality development. We should comprehensively strengthen the CPPCC’s own construction, give play to the leading role of the CPPCC Party Leadership Group in setting the direction, overseeing the overall situation and ensuring the implementation, build a strong team of CPPCC members and staff, continuously deepen the institutionalization, standardization and proceduralization of the CPPCC work, and better transform the institutional advantages of the CPPCC into governance efficiency.
Feng Zhonghua walked into the Guangzhou Municipal Democratic Parties Building, visited the offices of the Guangzhou Municipal Committees of the Revolutionary Committee of the Chinese Kuomintang (RCCK), China Democratic League (CDL), China National Democratic Construction Association (CNDCA), China Association for Promoting Democracy (CAPD), Chinese Peasants’ and Workers’ Democratic Party (CPWDP), Zhi Gong Party (ZG), Jiu San Society (JSS) and Taiwan Democratic Self-Government League (TDSL), exchanged views with members of their leading bodies, learned about the work of various democratic parties, extended New Year greetings to everyone, and expressed gratitude for their important contributions to Guangzhou’s development. Feng Zhonghua pointed out that at present, Guangzhou is moving forward in the direction guided by General Secretary Xi Jinping, going all out to make a good start in the crucial 15th Five-Year Plan period, and striving to take the lead, set an example and play a key role in advancing Chinese-style modernization. He hoped that all democratic parties will work with the CPC Guangzhou Municipal Committee with one heart and one mind, in the same direction and in the same pace, to jointly promote all undertakings in Guangzhou to gain new advantages and achieve new breakthroughs. We must adhere to the correct political direction, unswervingly uphold the leadership of the CPC, continuously enhance political, ideological, theoretical and emotional recognition, and consolidate the common ideological and political foundation for unity and struggle. We should keep the overall situation in mind to perform duties and responsibilities, carry out high-quality participation in the deliberation and administration of state affairs, promote efficient democratic supervision, participate in high-level political consultation, and give full play to the important role of being a good advisor, assistant and colleague. We should strengthen our own construction in accordance with the requirements of the Four News and Three Goods, and ensure the high-quality performance of duties with high-level capabilities and skills. The CPC Guangzhou Municipal Committee will, as always, support the work of various democratic parties, consciously accept democratic supervision, create better conditions for them to participate in the deliberation and administration of state affairs, perform their functions and play their roles, and promote the continuous development of the cause of multi-party cooperation in Guangzhou to a new level.
