On December 22, the First Session of the Fourth Council of Foshan High-Tech Industry Association was held. The conference brought together multiple stakeholders including the government, enterprises and the association, which will further pool industrial strengths and propel Foshan’s high-tech industry to forge ahead firmly on the path of innovation-driven development.
In the past few years, Foshan’s high-tech industry has achieved considerable development, with the number of high-tech enterprises rising from 5,694 in 2020 to 9,330 in 2024. At present, standing at a crucial starting point of the 15th Five-Year Plan period, Foshan is nurturing and developing new-quality productive forces through a three-pronged approach, striding forward toward the grand goal of “building a new Foshan”. Now more than ever, the city is in urgent need of a powerful engine of scientific and technological innovation.
Liu Jie, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Foshan Municipal Committee and Vice Mayor of Foshan Municipal People’s Government, stated that facing the new situation and new tasks, both the association and its member enterprises should not only pursue long-term vision and forward-looking layout, but also ground themselves in reality to serve and develop enterprises. He put forward three expectations: first, to act as a competent liaison for open cooperation, deliver all enterprise-benefiting policies from paper to practice, and build the association into a home for member enterprises to build consensus and a vital bridge for government-enterprise coordination; second, to courageously serve as a booster for innovation-driven tackling, and facilitate more collaborative research and breakthroughs in multiple fields including new power equipment, robotics and semiconductors; third, to strive to be the spokesperson for Foshan Manufacturing, polish the brand of the Foshan High-Tech Progress Award, and promote Foshan’s high-end products, innovative technologies and outstanding cases to the whole nation and the globe.
Focusing on the integration of cutting-edge technologies and industrial applications, the conference invited Professor Ru Xu Du, Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering, to deliver a special speech themed Artificial Intelligence and Intelligent Manufacturing. The speech conducted an in-depth analysis of the pathways and prospects for the deep integration of AI technology and manufacturing industry, providing forward-looking insights and practical references for the intelligent transformation of Foshan Manufacturing.
Chen Xianshuai, the newly elected President of the Association and Chairman of Guangdong Zhongke Anchors Bio-Tech Co., Ltd., stated that he would unite and lead all member enterprises to closely align with the deployment of the municipal Party committee and municipal government. By setting benchmarks, building industrial ecosystems and creating value, the association will strengthen the functions of its service platform, build a warm, in-depth and high-standard “innovation partner”, and jointly dedicate all enthusiasm and wisdom to building a new Foshan and forging ahead on a new journey during the 15th Five-Year Plan period.
The conference also commended outstanding enterprises in Foshan’s high-tech industry sector.
