Year after year, Guangzhou embraces happiness. On December 9, the 2025 Happy Cities Forum, hosted by Oriental Outlook Weekly, was held in Chengdu, releasing the results of the 2025 “China’s Happiest Cities” selection. Guangzhou made the list once again, marking its 8th time winning this honor and its 4th consecutive year to claim the title since 2022. Notably, Tianhe District was named the “Happiest Urban Area” for the 6th time in this selection.
Happiness is the eternal coordinate of urban development and the greatest recognition and praise that citizens bestow on a city. Since first being awarded “China’s Happiest City” in 2010, Guangzhou has upheld this happiness for 15 years.

Cities carry people’s aspirations for a prosperous and stable life. Looking to the future, Guangzhou will adhere to the principle of “building cities by the people and for the people”, uphold the enterprising spirit of “starting a second undertaking and standing at the forefront of the tide”, accelerate the realization of new vitality for the old city and “achieving excellence in four key areas”, making Happy Guangzhou more substantial in quality, brighter in foundation, and warmer in temperature.
