On the 9th, the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) held a press conference to brief the public on the latest progress of the search operations after the fire at Tai Po Wang Fuk Court. Chau Yat-ming, Commissioner of Police of the HKSAR Government, stated that the second phase of the search has been completed, and in the third phase, the police will conduct searches on the scaffolding and safety nets on the external walls of the seven affected buildings.
As of 16:00 on the 9th, the number of fatalities has risen to 160, and six residents remain unaccounted for.
