It is understood that the “Coordinating Group for Promoting Mainland Study Tours for Hong Kong and Macao Students” was initiated and established by the Asia Tourism Exchange Center in 2024. Its main tasks include publicizing high-quality mainland study tour routes, conducting inspections of mainland study tour products, organizing training and exchange activities for mainland study tours, connecting with the mainland-based “Hong Kong and Macao Youth Mainland Study Tour Alliance”, and assisting in resolving difficulties and problems encountered during mainland study tours.

Zhang Dong, Director of the Asia Tourism Exchange Center, stated that through actively organizing thematic seminars, resource inspections and large-scale promotion events, the Coordinating Group has effectively promoted the docking and cooperation of study tour resources between Hong Kong, Macao and the mainland. At present, its advantages in resource sharing and mutual benefit are becoming increasingly prominent, especially in the aspect of national condition education. He called on more Hong Kong and Macao institutions to join the group, and work together to elevate the far-reaching cause of organizing Hong Kong and Macao teenagers to participate in mainland study tours to a new level.

Hui Shing-yan, Chief Curriculum Development Officer of the Education Bureau of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, introduced the progress of the Mainland Study Tour Programme for the Citizenship and Social Development Subject. As an important part of the senior high school curriculum, the programme has facilitated over 100,000 students and more than 10,000 teachers to complete exchange tours in the mainland over the past three years, covering multiple provinces. In the future, the Education Bureau of the HKSAR Government will further expand study tour resources in provinces along the high-speed railway lines, continuously strengthen safety guarantee and multi-party cooperation mechanisms, and effectively enhance Hong Kong teenagers’ national awareness and sense of identity through in-depth on-site experiences.

The meeting also focused on promoting the premium “Retracing the Long March Route” study tour route in conjunction with the 90th anniversary of the victory of the Red Army’s Long March in 2026. In the subsequent study tour case-sharing session, representatives from various institutions including the Hong Kong Council of Special Schools and the Macao Chamber of Tourism shared their practical experience in organizing study tour activities on site.
