
The three-day Table Tennis Competition of the 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities and the 9th National Special Olympics Games came to a successful conclusion. The events held today included men’s doubles and women’s singles, with a total of 30 gold medals awarded. The Hong Kong team secured four gold, two silver and one bronze medals.
The men’s doubles competition covered three categories: the combined 12-15 and 16-21 age group; the 22-29 age group; and the 30-and-above age group. The Hong Kong team claimed both the gold and bronze medals in Group A of the men’s doubles 22-29 age group, with Li Ziyang and Wong Chi-hong winning gold, and Yeung Shing-hin and Fan Ka-wah taking bronze.
The women’s singles competition was divided into five categories: the 8-11 age group; the 12-15 age group; the 16-21 age group; the 22-29 age group; and the 30-and-above age group. Hong Kong’s Li Po-tung and Tam Sze-ling won gold medals in Group B and Group C of the women’s singles 16-21 age group respectively, while Chung Pui-kwan took silver in Group D. In addition, the Hong Kong team swept the gold and silver medals in Group A of the women’s singles 22-29 age group, with Lau Ching-yee winning gold and Cheng Hoi-ching earning silver.
The competition was held at Tsuen Wan Sports Centre.
