Guest of Honor Presides Over Opening Ceremony

Global Creative Economy and Cultural Trade Expo to Be Held in Macao Next Year

The “International Conference on Creative Economy and Trade Development” and the “6th China – Central and Eastern European Countries Forum on Cultural and Creative Industries” opened at 10 a.m. yesterday at Wynn Palace Macau. With the core theme of “Creative Economy for a Better Life”, the forum gathered approximately 200 representatives from government departments, international organizations, experts, scholars, and business elites from more than a dozen countries and regions worldwide. It featured over 20 thematic speeches and academic exchanges, building a bridge for in-depth dialogue and cooperation, and injecting strong impetus into Macao’s development as a “key base”.

Attending the opening ceremony were Tai Kin Ip, Secretary for Economy and Finance; Wan Su Cheng, Director of the Department of Publicity, Culture and Sports of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR; Cheng Lei, Deputy Commissioner of the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China in the Macao SAR; Carolina Quintana, Executive Director for Asia – Pacific of the World Trade Point Federation; Kao Hoi Ieng, Member of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress; Siniša Berjan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina in China; Liu Iat Long, Deputy Director of the All – China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese and Member of the National People’s Congress; Ji Xianzheng, Secretary – General of the Permanent Secretariat of the Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese – speaking Countries (Macao); Yu Yu Sang, Chairman of the Macao Science and Technology Development Fund; Lao Wai Meng, Director of Macao Post and Telecommunications Bureau; Choi Kin Lung, Acting Director of Macao Cultural Affairs Bureau; Wong I Leng, Acting Director of Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute; and Cheng Hio Man, Deputy Director of Macao Economic and Technological Development Bureau.

A “New Engine” for Recovery and Transformation

In his speech at the opening ceremony, Tai Kin Ip stated that the creative economy serves as a “new engine” driving economic recovery and transformation. The Macao SAR Government is striving to realize the goal of “shaping tourism with culture and highlighting culture through tourism”, promoting the in-depth integration of culture, tourism and commerce, and injecting new vitality into the appropriate economic diversification. It has been continuously optimizing the policy environment to attract the gathering of creative talents and enterprises, and actively planning and constructing major projects such as the Macao International Comprehensive Tourism and Culture Zone and the Macao Science and Technology Research and Development Industrial Park to further boost international cultural exchanges and economic and trade cooperation.

Chen Guoyou, Special Representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for China – Central and Eastern European Countries Cooperation, delivered a video speech, noting that over the years, the China – Central and Eastern European Countries Forum on Cultural and Creative Industries has built a bridge for cultural exchanges between the two sides. All sectors including government, industry, academia and research have joined hands to achieve fruitful results in fields such as book copyright, academic research, film and television production, creative design, the integration of culture and tourism, and the creative economy. China is willing to work hand in hand with Central and Eastern European countries, stand tall and see far with the belief of “forging ahead in unity and seeking common development”, grasp the direction of cooperation, seize the opportunities of the times, ensure that the ship of China – Central and Eastern European Countries cooperation always sails forward steadily with full momentum, and bring more benefits of cooperation to the people of both sides.

Pooling Global Creative Resources

Cheng Xiangfeng, Director of Silk Road Satellite TV and Chairman of the International Organization for Creative Economy and Trade, who introduced the forum to Macao, said that Silk Road Satellite TV has always taken responding to the Belt and Road Initiative as its mission and worked hard to promote cultural exchanges and cooperation between China and foreign countries. Adhering to the development tenet of “Intelligent Media Integration, AI – enabled Future”, it has strived to build a multilingual TV media convergence international communication platform. It has always been committed to enhancing international communication capabilities and presenting a true, multi – dimensional and comprehensive image of China to the world. He expressed confidence that the holding of this forum will further pool global creative resources, promote the in – depth integration of Macao’s cultural and creative industries with international trade, and help Macao become an important platform for international creative economy exchanges.

With the joint inauguration by the guests of honor, the International Organization for Creative Economy and Trade was officially established, and the conference announced that the “2026 Global Creative Economy and Cultural Trade Expo” will be held in Macao.
