As learned by reporters from China Media Group on December 27 local time, Israeli military sources indicated that following an attack in northern Israel a day earlier, Israeli security forces are still conducting an ongoing large-scale military operation in the northern West Bank town of Kabatiya.
According to the Israeli military, the operation is on a massive scale, with participating forces including multiple Israeli special forces units, the Israeli Border Police, as well as specialized units of the Israel Prison Service. During the operation, the Israeli military arrested five individuals suspected of involvement in terrorist activities, and interrogated dozens of other suspects. On the evening of December 26, Israeli reconnaissance forces carried out mortar fire on the Kabatiya area. Subsequently, troops raided the residences of the attackers and sealed off the surrounding areas.
At present, a complete curfew has been imposed on Kabatiya town, and Israeli military engineering corps have set up blockades at multiple locations across the town. Israeli air forces are meanwhile providing fire support and conducting reconnaissance in Kabatiya and the adjacent Jenin area.
Sources from the Palestinian side stated that Kabatiya town was subjected to a fierce Israeli military raid for the second consecutive day on December 27. The town is under a total blockade, and residents’ livelihoods have been severely affected.
Sources reported that the Israeli military launched large-scale operations in the town, conducting on-site interrogations of dozens of residents. A number of civilian residences were raided and searched, with some of these houses directly converted into military strongholds. Meanwhile, a school in the town was also seized by the Israeli military and repurposed as a military stronghold, as well as a detention and interrogation center.
During the military operation, Israeli military engineering vehicles bulldozed multiple streets. After blocking most secondary entrances to the town, the Israeli military banned residents from entering and exiting. A host of infrastructure facilities in the town have been damaged, power supplies to multiple neighbourhoods have been cut off, and residents’ daily lives have suffered severe disruptions.
