Two sections of the pedestrian and cyclist-shared Universal Accessibility Corridor in the Kai Tak Development Area opened to the public today. Each section is approximately 400 meters long, situated at Kai Tak Waterfront Garden and between Shing Kai Road Park and the Food Bay of Kai Tak Sports Park respectively.

The newly opened sections are adjacent to Victoria Harbour and Kai Tak Sports Park. With the commissioning of these two sections, the roughly 2-kilometer-long Universal Accessibility Corridor facing Victoria Harbour—stretching from Shing Kai Road Park through the Food Bay of Kai Tak Sports Park to the Kai Tak Waterfront Garden on the west side of the Runway District—has now been fully connected.

Consistent with the previously opened sections of the Universal Accessibility Corridor, the new sections are paved with speed-reducing paving stones to ensure safe shared use by both pedestrians and cyclists. In addition, bicycle parking spaces are available on-site, and a barrier-free pedestrian-only walkway is built alongside the Universal Accessibility Corridor, providing an extra option for the public.

Kai Tak Sports Park will flexibly manage the opening hours of the Universal Accessibility Corridor within the Food Bay and implement crowd control measures in accordance with the needs of events held in the park.

The total length of the Kai Tak Universal Accessibility Corridor is approximately 13 kilometers, of which around 4.3 kilometers have been opened. The remaining sections will be progressively completed and opened starting next year, in tandem with government and private development projects in the area.
