To further advance the Three – Year Campaign for Addressing Root Causes of Work Safety in water conservancy projects, effectively carry out fire safety work at the year – end and the beginning of the new year, fulfill all preparation tasks for the provincial assessment of work safety, and promote the orderly development of work safety for water conservancy projects in Liwan District, the District Bureau of Water Affairs recently organized and held the Q4 2025 Conference on Work Safety, Fire Protection for Water Conservancy Projects and Three – Year Campaign for Addressing Root Causes of Safety Hazards.
The conference conveyed and learned the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important instructions and directives following the fire accident at Wang Fuk Yuen in Tai Po, Hong Kong. It also communicated documents such as the Circular of the Guangzhou Municipal Bureau of Water Affairs on Organizing Comprehensive Inspections of Ongoing Water Conservancy Projects Before New Year’s Day and the Spring Festival of 2026. Besides, it released the quality and safety supervision results of the fourth quarter, conducted warning education focusing on the “12 • 4” major collapse accident of the Shenzhen – Jiangmen Railway in 2024, and organized a work safety knowledge assessment test for the fourth quarter.
The conference emphasized that all entities should thoroughly study and implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important instructions and directives on work safety, enhance political standing, and always keep the work safety string tight. They should further strengthen the concept of safe development, strengthen responsibility, and while making every effort to meet the project schedule, resolutely prevent and curb all types of safety accidents to effectively safeguard people’s lives and property and maintain social stability. Efforts should be made to steadily promote the Three – Year Campaign for Addressing Root Causes of Work Safety and the 2025 “Year of Hidden Danger Investigation and Rectification” campaign, strengthen fire safety management, support and cooperate with the provincial work safety assessment in the best state, and resolutely win the tough battle of risk prevention and control and hidden danger rectification. It is also necessary to clarify and enforce responsibilities, make preparations for emergency response, strengthen supervision and inspection, improve emergency duty, and further promote publicity and education to ensure the sustained and stable work safety situation of water conservancy projects.
More than 80 responsible persons attended the conference, including those from relevant departments and units of the District Bureau of Water Affairs, as well as construction contractors, supervision agencies and technical service providers of all ongoing water conservancy projects in the district.
