On December 26, the 6th Congress of Returned Overseas Chinese and Their Relatives of Longgang District, Shenzhen came to a close. You Yu and Yang Xiaowen, leaders of Longgang District, attended the meeting. Li Jiafan, first-level researcher of the Overseas Chinese Federation Work Department of the United Front Work Department of Shenzhen Municipal Party Committee, delivered a speech.
The congress examined and adopted the resolution (draft) on the work report of the 5th Committee of Longgang District Overseas Chinese Federation, issued letters of appointment to the honorary chairperson of the 6th Committee of Longgang District Overseas Chinese Federation, and presented certificates to the chairperson, vice chairpersons, secretary-general and standing committee members of the 6th Committee of the district Overseas Chinese Federation.
You Yu hoped that the new leadership team of the Overseas Chinese Federation would unite and lead overseas Chinese federation organizations at all levels and the majority of overseas Chinese federation cadres in Longgang District to show new responsibilities and achieve new accomplishments in uniting the hearts of overseas Chinese, pooling their wisdom and giving play to their strengths. The 2026 APEC Economic Leaders’ Informal Meeting will be held in Shenzhen. He hoped that the majority of returned overseas Chinese, their relatives and overseas Chinese compatriots would act as “bridge builders” for opening-up and cooperation, “boosters” for Longgang’s innovation, and “disseminators” of the city’s image, and shoulder greater responsibilities to “pool overseas Chinese wisdom and promote development”. The new Overseas Chinese Federation should take the initiative to build platforms, deepen the work of “attracting overseas Chinese, investment and talents through overseas Chinese”, contribute the unique wisdom and strength of the overseas Chinese community in Longgang’s new journey to strive to build a model of a modern urban area with charm, business opportunities, livability and high quality, and jointly write a new chapter for the overseas Chinese community in the practice of Chinese-style modernization in Longgang.
On behalf of the Shenzhen Municipal Overseas Chinese Federation, Li Jiafan extended congratulations to the newly elected leadership team and standing committee members of the 6th Committee of Longgang District Overseas Chinese Federation. He stated that the Longgang District Overseas Chinese Federation should raise its political standing, strengthen ideological guidance, and keep to the correct political direction of overseas Chinese federation work; focus closely on the central tasks, give play to the strength of overseas Chinese capital and wisdom, and show new achievements of the overseas Chinese community in serving the high-quality development of Longgang; adhere to serving overseas Chinese, safeguard their rights and interests in accordance with the law, and build a warm and trustworthy “home for overseas Chinese compatriots” with sincere dedication; deepen reform and innovation, strengthen self-construction, and promote the overseas Chinese federation cause to show new vitality and achieve new development.
