Smooth roads bring ease to people’s minds; unimpeded thoroughfares ensure public security. As the “micro-circulation” of transportation, small streets and lanes serve as a yardstick for measuring the warmth of people’s livelihood. In 2025, focusing on the pressing needs and difficulties of residents regarding inconvenient travel, Longgang Sub-district has taken the responsibility of “responding promptly to people’s demands” to advance livelihood projects. By opening the “convenience road” ahead of schedule, it has resolved the problem of residents being “unable to reach their homes smoothly”, bringing the happiness of convenient travel directly to the hearts of the people.
“Before Xiancheng Road was opened, it was extremely inconvenient. Now that the road is accessible, the surrounding businesses have also boomed, making life much more comfortable. The government has truly delivered on livelihood projects that touch the hearts of the people!” said Mr. Zhu, a homeowner of Xinlin Huijing Community, with emotion. He admitted that the entrance and exit of the community are adjacent to Xiancheng Road. Previously, there was only a narrow corridor with no formal vehicle exit. Now, the road directly connects to the main road, facilitating the daily travel of residents in the surrounding area.
Going back to 2024, the construction of the Xinlin Huijing real estate project in Xinsheng Community of Longgang Sub-district was drawing to a close, with the official delivery scheduled for May 2025. However, Xiancheng Road, the only planned external access road to the community, had not yet started construction. If the road could not be opened to traffic simultaneously, the prospective homeowners would face the dilemma of “having a home but being unable to return”.
Where there are people’s demands, there are governmental responses. Longgang Sub-district attached great importance to this livelihood issue and listed the construction of Xiancheng Road as a key annual tackling task. The Urban Construction Department of the sub-district quickly set up a special task force, formulated a reverse construction schedule, and promoted the project implementation with a visualized work plan. In March 2024, the construction of Xiancheng Road officially kicked off. During the construction period, extreme weather conditions such as typhoons and rainstorms came one after another, posing challenges to the construction progress. The project team rose to the challenges, scientifically allocated human and material resources, flexibly adjusted the construction plan, and seized every window of fine weather to work overtime. On the premise of strictly controlling project quality and safety, the road construction was completed in March 2025, ahead of schedule.
“The delivery of Xinlin Huijing is scheduled for May 2025, and residents’ travel is a top priority for people’s livelihood. At that time, we decided to open this access road before the house handover,” said Liao Dingrong, a staff member of the Urban Construction Office of Longgang Sub-district Office. It was with this spirit of overcoming difficulties that the sub-district fulfilled the livelihood commitment of “road access upon house delivery” as scheduled.
The opening of a single road is linked to people’s well-being and the warmth of the city. The early opening of Xiancheng Road has not only unblocked the “capillaries” of urban transportation but also smoothed the “heart-to-heart road” between the government and the people, turning the livelihood commitment of “responding promptly to people’s demands” into tangible results. In the future, Longgang Sub-district will continue to focus on the urgent needs and difficulties of the masses, take more concrete measures to strengthen the livelihood security network, and make livelihood projects a “happiness report card” that warms people’s hearts.
