Establishment of Longhua Multilingual Volunteer Service Team

On the afternoon of January 10, the inauguration ceremony of Longhua District Multilingual Volunteer Service Team for APEC was held at the District Youth Palace. More than 80 participants, including relevant responsible persons and representatives of multilingual volunteers, took part in the event.

To provide high-standard reception services for this international grand gathering, the District Committee of the Communist Youth League (CYLC) made advance plans and joined hands with multiple units such as the District Foreign Affairs Bureau and the Education Work Committee of CYLC. Through new media platforms including Shenzhen Longhua and Longhua Youth, it publicly recruited volunteers from the whole society and carefully set up a multilingual volunteer service team of over 340 members proficient in languages like English, Russian, French, Korean and German. The team adopts a language-based group management model and innovatively establishes a “1+N” backbone-led working mechanism, where one backbone volunteer leads several team members. This mechanism gives full play to the exemplary and leading role, and comprehensively improves team coordination and service efficiency.

The inauguration ceremony was solemn yet dynamic, featuring a series of sessions including flag presentation, collective oath-taking and multilingual talent shows. Taking this opportunity, the District Committee of CYLC systematically launched and focused on advancing three brand initiatives. First, the “APEC Youth Night School” service capacity enhancement initiative. Up to now, 12 special courses have been held, covering more than 360 person-times of young people, effectively strengthening the volunteers’ cross-cultural communication and scenario adaptation capabilities. Second, the “Charming Longhua · World Impression” city image promotion initiative. Seven APEC-themed articles have been published on platforms such as Longhua Youth, with a total of 15,000 views. Third, the “Window Upgrading · Service Quality Improvement” service environment optimization initiative. It has upgraded CYLC-affiliated venues including youth housing stations and volunteer service windows across the district, striving to build an international volunteer service front-end window with distinctive Longhua characteristics.

Zhong Yiwen, representative of the on-site volunteers, said, “I feel extremely honored to contribute to APEC by applying my professional expertise and show Longhua’s openness and vitality to the world. The pre-service training has boosted my confidence in cross-cultural communication, and I will go all out to provide quality services.”

After the ceremony, all volunteers participated in the first session of service etiquette training. Going forward, the District Committee of CYLC will continue to deepen the capacity building and brand initiatives of the multilingual volunteer service team. It will also showcase the demeanor of Longhua’s young people and the charm of the district through columns such as “Youth Voices” and multilingual videos, creating a favorable atmosphere for welcoming APEC.
