On New Year’s Eve, government departments, non-governmental organizations, and several resort enterprises will host a series of countdown events across the Macao Peninsula and Cotai Strip, welcoming the new year together with residents and tourists. Multiple bus routes and the Light Rapid Transit (LRT) system will extend their operating hours to facilitate travel.

Tonight, a variety of concerts and countdown events will take place at Sai Van Lake Square, Taipa Houses-Museum, Three Lamps Roundabout, as well as numerous resort establishments in Cotai, offering festive fun for all to celebrate the new year. Temporary traffic and crowd control measures will be enforced at various countdown event venues. Twenty-one daytime bus routes will extend their services until 1:00 a.m. or 2:00 a.m. on New Year’s Day, and some night routes will increase the frequency of their departures. Special services for routes 51X and 25BS will be added from 10:00 p.m. tonight to 1:00 a.m. on New Year’s Day to ease passenger flow.
In response to passenger demand, the LRT will adjust train frequencies in a timely manner and extend its operating hours until 2:00 a.m. on New Year’s Day, with the last trains departing from all routes accordingly. The LRT operator reminds passengers to pay attention to station announcements, follow on-site signage, and cooperate with staff instructions.
The highlight of the countdown events, the 2025 Macao New Year’s Eve Countdown Concert, will be staged at Sai Van Lake Square from 10:00 p.m. to 12:10 a.m. tonight. Renowned Hong Kong singer Chan Fai Young, band Dear Jane, along with a number of local Macao singers and bands, will deliver spectacular performances to welcome the new year alongside the audience. The venue will feature a variety of cultural booths showcasing traditional costumes from Southeast Asia and other regions, travel information, as well as local snacks and beverages.
The Cotai Strip is set to shine brightly tonight, with multiple resort enterprises hosting their own New Year’s Eve galas. Public viewing areas will be set up along the Cotai Strip, featuring live band and DJ performances, light shows, and countdown fireworks displays. As midnight approaches, the Cotai Strip is expected to be filled with dazzling starlight, vibrant music, and spectacular fireworks, marking the grand opening of the new year.
