Macao Polytechnic University held the 2025 IEEE International Conference on Teaching, Assessment, and Learning for Engineering (IEEE TALE 2025), a top-tier international conference and the flagship academic event of the IEEE Education Society in the Asia-Pacific region. Co-hosted by Macao Polytechnic University, the IEEE Education Society, and IEEE Region 10, and supported by the Economic and Technological Development Bureau of the Macao Special Administrative Region Government, the conference kicked off grandly at Macao Polytechnic University on December 4, 2025. With the core theme of “Educational Technology and STEAM Integrated Education Innovation”, this conference attracted hundreds of experts and scholars from various fields such as higher education, vocational education, enterprises, and healthcare around the world to gather in Macao. They conducted in-depth discussions on the new paths of education development driven by digital technology, building an international platform for academic exchange and practical cooperation across regions and fields.
In his opening speech, Yan Zhaoji, President of Macao Polytechnic University, stated that as a bridge connecting the Chinese mainland with the world, Macao is committed to promoting the deep integration of education and technology. The innovative development of educational technology is the core driving force for promoting global education reform. This conference focuses on the integrated innovation of educational technology and STEAM, which is highly consistent with Macao Polytechnic University’s school-running philosophy of “cultivating innovative talents and promoting academic innovation”. Taking the conference as a link, Macao Polytechnic University will further strengthen multi-faceted cooperation with universities and institutions at home and abroad, continuously promote the deep integration of education and technology, help Macao integrate into the national education development framework, inject Macao’s strength into the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area International Science and Technology Innovation Center, and contribute to the innovative development of educational technology in the Asia-Pacific region.
In his speech, Ian Ian, Director of the Economic and Technological Development Bureau, said that Macao is an open and inclusive international city and is committed to developing the innovative technology industry. He expects the conference to promote cooperation between local and international research communities and jointly explore new technology-enabled education models.
Li Zhiyuan, representative of IEEE Region 10, noted that as a Macao resident and a former recipient of the TALE Conference Best Paper Award, hosting this conference in Macao is of great significance. He hopes that participants will make the most of the four-day conference and work together to advance the future development of engineering education and learning technology.
The four-day IEEE TALE 2025 International Education Conference featured rich content, presenting cutting-edge trends and practical achievements in the field of educational technology in a three-dimensional way through keynote speeches, panel discussions, and exhibitions of outstanding academic achievements. Participants conducted in-depth exchanges on hot topics such as educational technology teaching reform, the integration of generative artificial intelligence and education, innovations in digital teaching assessment, and STEAM education practices. As the host, Macao Polytechnic University will give full play to its academic accumulation and resource advantages in educational technology and innovation, STEAM education and other fields, strengthen the international cooperation of Macao’s higher education, and further enhance Macao’s influence in the field of educational technology in the Asia-Pacific region.
