The University Town must leverage the advantages of Macao’s “One Country, Two Systems” principle, take the demands of Macao’s emerging industries as the orientation, and set up innovative disciplines that closely align with the “1+4” appropriate economic diversification development strategy. Centering on industries such as high-tech, modern finance, traditional Chinese medicine and big health, MICE, commerce and trade, as well as culture and sports, it should cultivate talents who can directly serve Macao’s emerging industries. This will achieve a precise match between talent supply and the needs of economic transformation, laying a solid foundation for the development of diversified industries.
The University Town will stimulate new-quality productive forces through technology transfer, focusing on the integration of cutting-edge scientific research and applied technology transformation. It also needs to form a synergistic effect with the Macao Science and Technology Research and Development Industrial Park, establishing an industry-university-research interaction mechanism spanning from “University Town – Industrial Park – Technology Enterprises”. This mechanism can transform the scientific and technological R&D achievements of the University Town into industrial applications, turning Macao’s science and technology industry into a new-quality productive force and new impetus for driving economic growth.

Mr. Gao emphasized that the University Town shoulders the important mission of cultivating local talents in Macao and building an international highland through talent aggregation. By setting up innovative disciplines and providing scientific research and practice environments, it will enhance the scientific research capabilities and international competitiveness of Macao’s talents. Meanwhile, it will closely align with the third-phase talent introduction plan to deploy the leading experts and talents required by emerging industries.
