Deputies to the People’s Congresses at all levels in Shenzhen have gained a new platform for performing their duties. On December 29, the three liaison stations were officially inaugurated and put into operation, which will further leverage the role of People’s Congress deputies in serving national strategies and promoting coordinated regional development. Dai Yunlong, Director of the Standing Committee of the Shenzhen Municipal People’s Congress, attended the inauguration forum held at the Qianhai International Talent Hub together with more than 30 deputies to the People’s Congresses at all levels in Shenzhen.
Deputies’ liaison stations serve as important platforms for People’s Congress deputies to maintain close ties with the general public and fulfill their duties in accordance with the law. At present, Shenzhen has established over 70 street-level central liaison stations and more than 200 community-level liaison stations for People’s Congress deputies. Qianhai, Hetao and Shenzhen-Shantou Special Cooperation Zones are major strategic platforms for Shenzhen’s development in the new era. The three deputies’ liaison stations set up here are different from traditional ones, featuring cross-regional and cross-field attributes as well as distinctive and professional work requirements. In accordance with relevant working measures, the deputies’ liaison stations in the cooperation zones are planned, coordinated and guided by the Standing Committee of the Shenzhen Municipal People’s Congress, and their construction and management are undertaken by the Qianhai Authority, Hetao Development Office, Shenzhen-Shantou Special Cooperation Zone Administrative Committee and the standing committees of people’s congresses of various districts. Up to now, the Standing Committee of the Shenzhen Municipal People’s Congress, in conjunction with the administrative agencies of the cooperation zones, has appointed deputies from the national, provincial and municipal levels to be stationed at the liaison stations, who are familiar with regional development and possess relevant professional expertise, based on the development orientation and needs of the cooperation zones.
Dai Yunlong stated that establishing People’s Congress deputies’ liaison stations in the three cooperation zones of Qianhai, Hetao and Shenzhen-Shantou, and better exerting the role of people’s congresses to support the construction and development of the cooperation zones, is an important measure taken by the Standing Committee of the Shenzhen Municipal People’s Congress to align with the overall work arrangements of the country and the province, and enrich the grassroots practice of whole-process people’s democracy. It is also a concrete action to implement Several Measures of the Municipal Party Committee on Giving Full Play to the Leading Role of People’s Congresses in Strengthening Ties with the People issued this year. All relevant departments and the stationed deputies should closely focus on the positioning and functions of the three cooperation zones in the overall development layout of the country and the province, center on key tasks such as advancing cooperation between Shenzhen and Hong Kong in modern service industries and technological innovation, and promoting coordinated regional development. They should take the initiative to conduct research, put forward constructive suggestions, and jointly promote the construction of the cooperation zones to continuously open up new prospects and present a new look.
After the inauguration ceremony, Dai Yunlong and his entourage also visited the People’s Congress Deputies’ Liaison Station of the Qianhai Cooperation Zone, which is located at the Qianhai Party-Mass Service Center.
