On December 26, the launch ceremony of Shenzhen Culture and History 2025 was held at the Shenzhen Municipal Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), with Qiao Hengli, Vice Chairman of the Municipal CPPCC, in attendance.
Centered on the core theme of “Design”, Shenzhen Culture and History 2025 is divided into six major sections: Urban Design Strategy, Design Industry, Design Industrial Parks, Environment and Public Art Design, Design Events, and Special Features. It systematically sorts out and presents in depth Shenzhen’s development course, industrial practices and cultural accumulation in the field of design. Focusing not only on the macro strategies of the industry, the book also includes a large number of vivid character stories and typical cases. It aims to help readers deeply understand Shenzhen’s urban development path of transformation and upgrading from “manufacturing” to “creation” and from “speed” to “quality” through warm and detailed cultural and historical narratives.
At the launch ceremony, the responsible person of the Culture, History and Literature Committee of the Municipal CPPCC introduced the compilation work of the book. Representatives from cooperating units, including Wei Fuhua, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Shenzhen Publishing House, and Han Zhanning, Design Director of Asia Copper Design, as well as experts and author representatives delivered speeches successively, sharing their experiences in participating in the compilation. Participants agreed that Shenzhen Culture and History 2025 is not only a collection of industry historical materials, but also an in-depth sorting out of Shenzhen’s innovative culture and design spirit. They deeply felt the great responsibility and gained much inspiration from participating in the compilation work.
During the event, the Municipal CPPCC presented the new book to representatives of the Party History and Literature Research Institute of the Municipal Party Committee, the Municipal Archives and Shenzhen Library respectively, with a view to further promoting the collection, research and public dissemination of cultural and historical materials.
Qiao Hengli stated that the work of compiling CPPCC cultural and historical materials undertakes the important functions of “preserving history, providing policy reference, enhancing unity and educating people”. He emphasized that it is necessary to broaden the perspective of writing, focus on placing special topics in the overall context of urban development to enhance the historical depth of the materials; to continuously expand the team of cultural and historical writers, actively cultivate new talents and absorb forces from all walks of life; and to continuously improve the efficiency and quality of compilation work, ensuring that both progress and standards are given equal attention.
