The First Recommended List of Domestic Trendy Brands for Urban Duty-Free Shops in Shenzhen Released: 174 Brands Selected with 25 from Shenzhen

China’s Ministry of Commerce released the first recommended list of 174 domestic trendy brands for urban duty-free shops in Shenzhen, with 25 local brands selected. Shenzhen’s duty-free store has set up special zones for such brands to boost domestic products’ development.

Recently, at the Promotion Conference for Domestic Trendy Brands Entering Duty-Free Channels held in Shenzhen, the Department of Circulation Development of the Ministry of Commerce released the first batch of recommended list of domestic trendy brands for urban duty-free shops, with a total of 174 brands making the list. Among them are 25 Shenzhen-based brands, including Honor, Boshi Optical, Bama Tea Industry, PurCotton, Narwal and others.

The first list launched this time features a comprehensive product category coverage, which is accurately aligned with the scope of duty-free commodities specified in the announcement of the General Administration of Customs, covering 19 key business categories. It also has an extensive geographical distribution: the selected brands originate from 26 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government) across the country, including both emerging fashion brands in eastern China and characteristic high-quality products from central and western China. Meanwhile, the brands boast profound heritage, with 45 time-honored Chinese brands included in the list, fully demonstrating the cultural connotation and quality accumulation of domestic brands.

This list will provide authoritative guidance for duty-free enterprises in product selection and procurement, effectively stimulate the innovation vitality of domestic brands, and boost the leaping development of domestic trendy products in the duty-free sector, enabling them to move from “market entry” to national popularity.

As one of the first pilot cities for the implementation of the national urban duty-free shop policy, Shenzhen has seized the opportunity of cultivating and building an international consumption center city to construct a three-dimensional operation model integrating duty-free, tax-refund and taxable businesses. It has created characteristic experience scenarios of domestic trends such as Glory of Technology, and established a government-enterprise coordinated mechanism for brand introduction, effectively addressing the key pain points and difficulties for domestic products to access duty-free channels.

The urban duty-free shop in Shenzhen is jointly built by China Duty Free Group, Shenzhen Duty Free Group and Shenzhen Investment Holdings Group, and officially opened to the public in August this year. The domestic trendy products available in the shop cover a variety of categories including alcoholic beverages, technology products, beauty and skincare, premium goods and intangible cultural heritage items. A total of 11 brands selected in the first list have set up exclusive exhibition and experience zones here, including Fenjiu, Luzhou Laojiao, Yanghe, Boshi Optical, Honor, Breo, Comfortime, Seagull Watch, Liu’s Bamboo Weaving and Guo Ci Yongfeng Yuan Porcelain.
