Shenzhen Federation of Trade Unions Carries out Visitation and Condolence Activities for Workers in New Employment Forms

On Dec 24, Shenzhen Federation of Trade Unions visited 11 platform enterprises to offer condolences to workers in new employment forms. It has rolled out multiple welfare measures and built service facilities to safeguard their rights and interests effectively.

On December 24, in accordance with the unified arrangements of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions and the Guangdong Provincial Federation of Trade Unions, the Shenzhen Federation of Trade Unions launched a city-wide campaign of visitation and condolence for workers in new employment forms. Gao Shengyuan, Deputy Director of the Standing Committee of Shenzhen Municipal People’s Congress and Chairman of Shenzhen Federation of Trade Unions, and other leaders led separate teams to visit 11 platform enterprises including Huolala, ZTO Express, Taobao Flash Sale and JD.com. Through on-site visits, forum exchanges, questionnaires and other forms, targeted visitation and condolence were conducted to facilitate the resolution of practical difficulties faced by workers in new employment forms.

As the reliable “family member” for all workers in the city, the Shenzhen Federation of Trade Unions has been continuously exploring new approaches to safeguard the rights and interests of workers in new employment forms in recent years. It has made multi-dimensional efforts including expanding organizational coverage, improving rights protection mechanisms and innovating service models, and rolled out a series of measures to protect the interests of such workers.

It is learned that a total of 680 trade unions for the new employment forms have been set up in the city, with over 510,000 registered members in this sector. A total of 292 legal service stations run by trade unions have been established across the city, providing one-on-one legal services for workers in new employment forms. More than 1,300 Nuanfeng Service Stations (Trade Union Service Stations) and 49 trade union canteens have been built, serving as a cozy haven for these workers to take a rest, charge their electronic devices and have meals. Meanwhile, the Shenzhen Federation of Trade Unions has innovatively launched the “Shenzhen Trade Union Protection” comprehensive security program, providing full-cycle care services for more than 1.4 million workers in new employment forms as well as front-line employees in domestic services, construction and sanitation sectors.
