The closure work of Fortune God Casino, owned by Sociedade de Jogos de Macau, S.A. (hereinafter referred to as “SJM Resorts”), was successfully completed early this morning (December 10). The entire process was coordinated by the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ), with close cross-departmental cooperation ensuring that all relevant procedures were carried out in accordance with the law and in an orderly manner.

After Fortune God Casino officially ceased operations at 11:59 p.m. on December 9, the DICJ immediately initiated the suspension procedures for gaming tables, and actively coordinated various departments to follow up on matters such as venue handover, with the process proceeding in an orderly fashion.

During the closure period, the Labour Affairs Bureau (DSAL) dispatched staff to the scene to answer employees’ questions and provided a support hotline for subsequent inquiries. Personnel from the Public Security Police Force and the Judiciary Police maintained order inside and around the venue. The overall closure process was smooth and well-organized.

In addition, as the three-year “transition period” for “satellite casinos” is set to expire at the end of this year, Landmark Casino, another casino under SJM Resorts, has been scheduled to cease operations at 11:59 p.m. on December 30 after negotiations. At that time, the DICJ will conduct strict supervision and send personnel to inspect the entire closure process on-site, ensuring that SJM Resorts implements the suspension procedures in accordance with the handling plan submitted to the government.

Regarding the arrangements for the 1,169 employees of Landmark Casino, the DICJ will continue to maintain close communication with the DSAL to ensure that SJM Resorts fulfills its commitments, properly arranges for all relevant employees, and safeguards their salary and welfare benefits, working conditions, and job transfer opportunities to enable them to maintain employment.

The DICJ will continue to coordinate with gaming concessionaires and relevant departments to jointly promote the healthy and orderly development of Macau’s gaming industry.
