To promote red culture and inspire the patriotic enthusiasm and volunteer service spirit of young people, the thematic lecture activity titled “Inheriting the Red Gene and Striving to Be Young Envoys of the National Games” was successfully held at the Kapok Veteran Post of the 3rd National Congress of the Communist Party of China on the afternoon of November 13. Guided by the Guangzhou Veteran Soldiers’ Rights and Interests Protection Center, this activity was co-organized by the Yuexiu District Veteran Soldiers Service Center and the Dongshan Sub-district Veteran Soldiers Service Station. It attracted the active participation of representatives including local students, teachers, and Kapok veterans, who jointly listened to red stories, learned about the spirit of the National Games, and experienced the unique charm of volunteer service.

This activity innovatively integrated the inheritance of the red spirit with the promotion of National Games volunteer service, providing young people with a vivid and meaningful educational publicity course. In the session of the red spirit inheritance class, Shi Guozhou, a Kapok veteran from Yuexiu District, emotionally shared his personal experience of participating in the war, explained the profound connotation of the red spirit in the new era, and guided the students to remember history, cherish the present, cultivate patriotic feelings, and strengthen their aspirations for struggle. In the volunteer service class, Huang Peng, the director of the Kapok Veteran Post of the 3rd National Congress of the Communist Party of China, focused on the 15th National Games, introduced in detail the event overview, the concept of volunteer service, and the responsibilities of volunteers. He also shared his own experience in engaging in volunteer service, demonstrating the value and wonderful moments of volunteer service, and encouraging the students to establish the volunteer service awareness of dedication, friendship, mutual assistance, and progress from an early age, and strive to be young envoys of the National Games.

To enhance the fun and sense of participation of the activity, an interactive session was set up, featuring a quiz with prizes centered on red culture and the National Games. The students actively participated, consolidated the knowledge they had learned in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere, and showed high enthusiasm.
In addition, the activity invited Wu Dong, a calligrapher and Kapok veteran from Dongshan Sub-district, to create on-site calligraphy works. He integrated themes such as “the spirit of the National Games” and “volunteer service” into his calligraphy works and presented them to the students who performed actively, expressing emotions through brush and ink and conveying blessings and expectations.
In the summary session, the host once again emphasized the importance of inheriting the red gene and practicing volunteer service, and initiated the students to study hard, grow up healthily, and strive to be outstanding young people in the new era. Teachers and students present all stated that this activity not only provided a precious learning opportunity for young people but also injected new vitality into promoting red culture, spreading the spirit of the National Games, and promoting the development of the volunteer service cause.
Next, the Yuexiu District Kapok Veteran Volunteer Service Team will rely on the Kapok Veteran Post of the 3rd National Congress of the Communist Party of China, continue to give play to its own advantages, carry out more colorful patriotic education activities, and contribute to cultivating socialist builders and successors who are well-developed in moral, intellectual, physical, aesthetic, and labor education.
