On November 29, 2025, the Ministry of Education, PRC organized and convened a Symposium on the Formulation of the 15th Five-Year Plan for Educational Development (Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Region) in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province. Ren Youqun, Member of the Party Leadership Group and Vice Minister of the Ministry of Education, attended the symposium and delivered a speech.
The symposium focused on the work related to formulating the 15th Five-Year Plan for educational development and fully solicited opinions and suggestions from all participants. It emphasized that efforts should be made to thoroughly implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speeches and the spirit of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. We should carefully map out the major tasks for the reform and development of education during the 15th Five-Year Plan period based on actual conditions and accelerate the drive to boost China’s strength in education. Additionally, we need to give full play to the geographical advantages of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, coordinate and promote the integrated development of education, science and technology, and talents, so as to provide strong support for building a world-class bay area.
Responsible comrades from relevant departments and directly affiliated institutions of the Ministry of Education, authorities including those in charge of education, development and reform, finance, science and technology, and industry and information technology of Guangdong Province, educational departments of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and the Macao Special Administrative Region, as well as responsible comrades from the People’s Government of Guangzhou Municipality attended the symposium. In addition, representatives from relevant institutions of higher education, primary and secondary schools, scientific research institutions and enterprises were also present.
