Sunshine, coasts, sailboats… On December 16th, the 17th China Cup Regatta concluded on the shores of Daya Bay in Shenzhen.

After four days of intense competition between teams from Hong Kong and Shenzhen, seven teams claimed the championship titles in their respective categories, namely Mammut · Xiaoyao Sailing Team, Rampage 88, Tai Chi, Jingang Sailing Team, Simplicity GS, Five Oceans, and the Swiss 72K Sailing Team.

Dou Xiao, a member of the Mammut · Xiaoyao Sailing Team and the Promotion Ambassador of Sailing Sports for the China Cup, said, “The biggest gain from participating this year is taking part in the Hong Kong Around-the-Island Race and the HK-SZ Passage Race. During the races, we were able to feast our eyes on the beautiful scenery of the Greater Bay Area. Meanwhile, just as the English name of the HK-SZ Passage Race suggests, the route from Hong Kong to Shenzhen is like a passageway, enabling more friends from different countries to travel from Hong Kong to Shenzhen and the Chinese mainland. This is a journey of discovery and a journey of openness.”

A number of sailing teams and crew members from Taiwan, China, participated in this year’s event, among which is the Letao International Sailing School. Captain Pan Weihua is a long-time friend of the China Cup. This year’s Hong Kong Around-the-Island Race and HK-SZ Passage Race brought him great joy. He said, “This is my most enjoyable China Cup experience ever. We completed the Hong Kong Around-the-Island Race for the first time, and we had never sailed on such a thrilling and exciting course before. All the teams passing through the mark together was such a fun and delightful scene.”
