At the lecture, Medical Assistant Deng Caiqin focused on the high-incidence eye diseases among the elderly group, and delivered professional science popularization centering on the knowledge of the Five Color-coded Blindness-causing Diseases and cataracts. She first elaborated on the specific scope of the Five Color-coded Blindness-causing Diseases in detail, then systematically explained the medical definition of cataracts. Combined with the physiological characteristics and living scenarios of the elderly, she conducted an in-depth analysis of the multiple hazards of cataracts to visual health, daily mobility and even personal safety, enabling the elderly present to clearly understand the importance of early prevention, early detection and early treatment of eye diseases.

Upon the conclusion of the lecture, ophthalmology specialists from the eye hospital provided a series of free eye disease screenings for all attendees, including visual acuity test, optometry, slit-lamp examination and eyesight screening. Exquisite gifts were also prepared for the participants. Moving forward, the Qiaodong Community Association for the Elderly will continue to focus on the health needs of the elderly group, carry out various health science popularization activities on a regular basis, and build a solid health protection barrier for the elderly residents in the community.
