Elevated Traffic Realized Between Chuangye Middle Road and Zhuhai Avenue
On the morning of December 24, the Chuangye Middle Road Flyover, the first key project of the Expedited Upgrading Project of Zhuhai Avenue (West Section of Jinwan Interchange), was opened to traffic first. With a total length of about 520 meters, the flyover is constructed in accordance with the standard of two-way six lanes. Its completion and opening to traffic has realized the elevated traffic between Chuangye Middle Road and Zhuhai Avenue, which can effectively ease the traffic congestion at the Jitimeng Bridge section during morning and evening rush hours.
Reporters at the scene saw that after the opening of the Chuangye Middle Road Flyover, vehicles traveling between Jitimeng Bridge and the downtown area can pass quickly without traffic lights via the two-way six-lane main line of the flyover deck, and the east-west traffic pressure on this section has been greatly relieved. Meanwhile, the pedestrian overpass near the Liangang Industrial Park Bus Station has been opened to traffic simultaneously. Pedestrians who previously needed to cross Zhuhai Avenue on foot can cross the road more safely via the overpass, and non-motor vehicles can drive east to the traffic light intersection of Airport North Road to cross Zhuhai Avenue.
It is learned that the Expedited Upgrading Project of Zhuhai Avenue (West Section of Jinwan Interchange) starts at the west side of Jinwan Interchange in Jinwan District and ends at the east side of Jitimeng Bridge, with the main line stretching for about 11 kilometers in total length.
Following 14 months of orderly advancement, the project has achieved phased results besides the first opening of the Chuangye Middle Road Flyover: the Dongcheng Road Flyover, Shuanghu Road Flyover and Guang’an Road Flyover have all completed bridge connection, and the finishing work of the bridge deck system is currently underway; the main structure capping of the Airport North Road Underpass Tunnel was completed at the end of October, with electromechanical decoration and construction in progress at present. Moving forward, efforts will be made to achieve the goal that the Dongcheng Road Flyover, Airport North Road Underpass Tunnel, Shuanghu Road Flyover and Guang’an Road Flyover gradually meet the traffic opening conditions before the Spring Festival.
