On December 25, at the construction site of the Zhuhai-Macao Translational Medicine Center Project affiliated to the Fifth Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University, following the issuance of operational instructions, a green canopy covering nearly 7,800 square meters slowly unfolded above the foundation pit, enclosing the entire construction area. This marks the first introduction of the automatic foundation pit canopy system in Zhuhai, a milestone that accelerates the shift of the city’s construction industry towards green and intelligent development.
On the same day, the Zhuhai Municipal Bureau of Housing and Urban-Rural Development hosted an on-site technical observation meeting on the application of automatic canopy systems during the foundation construction phase of construction projects at the site. More than 100 representatives from the municipal housing and urban-rural development sector, construction enterprises and industry associations attended the event to observe the practical application of this new technology on site.
As is known to all, green construction and intelligent building have become the development trends of the industry. In traditional foundation pit construction, dust control, safety protection and the impact of weather conditions have long been three major challenges. The automatic canopy system can not only be opened and closed with a single remote control command, but also partially deployed as required for mechanical operations. Through modular design and intelligent control, the system has achieved three major transformations:
It shifts from passive dust removal to active dust suppression, confining construction dust within the scope of the foundation pit;
It upgrades from manual safety protection to technology-driven protection, providing workers with an all-weather safe working environment;
It changes from weather-dependent construction to all-weather construction, greatly improving operational efficiency.
According to the relevant person in charge of the Zhuhai Municipal Bureau of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, the automatic foundation pit canopy system has been successfully applied in many cities across China. Its first introduction and demonstration application in Zhuhai is a concrete measure to boost the high-quality development of the construction industry and implement the concept of green construction. This technology can not only effectively control construction dust, reduce noise and lower ambient temperatures, and improve safety standards, but also delivers sound economic benefits thanks to its reusable and recyclable features.
