On January 10, Zhuhai’s “Gold and Stone Unlock, Art Empowers Villages” Achievement Exhibition and Hengshiji Cultural Tourism Promotion Event was held in Hengshiji Village, Sanzao Town, Jinwan District, kicking off the special Spring Festival initiative of the “Foundation Strengthening Project” that uses art and literature to boost grassroots spiritual civilization construction.
Hosted by the Publicity Department of the Zhuhai Municipal Party Committee and the Zhuhai Federation of Literary and Art Circles, the event was undertaken by the Jinwan District Bureau of Agriculture, Rural Affairs and Water Resources, the Jinwan District Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports and other relevant units. As a concrete practice of Zhuhai’s “Pairing Up to Cultivate Culture” series of activities, it vividly demonstrated the strong momentum of art and literature empowering the “Hundred Counties, Thousand Towns and Ten Thousand Villages High-quality Development Project” and continuously advancing the in-depth integration of agriculture, culture and tourism.
The event venue featured a rich array of performances, including the Cantonese opera excerpts Meeting and Pouring Out Affections in Search of the Academy and Wang Zhaojun’s Departure to the Frontier, the original folk songs Antiphonal Singing · Guessing Objects and Awaiting My Beloved performed by local folk singers from Sanzao, the dance Shadow of Cranes Dancing and the red classic Cantonese opera aria Ode to Litchi. In addition, the event created a multi-dimensional space integrating “exhibition + performance + experience + consumption”: the “Blessings to Thousands of Families” calligraphy area exuded a rich fragrance of ink, while the “Hengshiji Flavors” food and cultural and creative market was bustling with visitors. A relevant person in charge of the Zhuhai Federation of Literary and Art Circles stated that the “Pairing Up to Cultivate Culture” series aims to break resource barriers, enable professional literary and artistic forces to take root in rural areas, stimulate the cultural creativity of the masses, and make culture a spiritual bond that unites people’s hearts and empowers rural revitalization.
Since last year, under the guidance of the Publicity Department of the Zhuhai Municipal Party Committee, the Zhuhai Federation of Literary and Art Circles has collaborated with various literary and art associations to provide “customized” services, accumulating over 200 class hours of literary and artistic training, sketching guidance and tutoring. It has also held multiple benefit-oriented performances and achievement exhibitions, cultivated more than 20 grassroots literary and artistic backbones, and formed a complete cultural service closed loop of “training – creation – exhibition”.
