Warm Encounter Between Zunyi Flavors and Greater Bay Area’s Hustle and Bustle: Zunyi Agricultural Specialties and Greater Bay Area Food Culture Carnival Held in Zhuhai

Mountains meet seas, and food serves as a bridge. Recently, the “Mountain-Sea Gathering · Tasting Zheng’an Flavors” Zunyi Agricultural Specialties and Greater Bay Area Food Culture Carnival has been gathering momentum at Ningxi Cultural Square in Xiangzhou District, Zhuhai City. This cross-city carnival, integrating Zunyi’s characteristic agricultural products, authentic Greater Bay Area delicacies and cultural performances, will run until January 4, 2026. It offers a popular holiday check-in spot for citizens and tourists, bringing a mouthwatering mountain-sea feast.

Zheng’an County, located in the northeastern part of Zunyi City, has long been known as the “Gateway to Northern Guizhou”. Its famous and high-quality specialties mainly include wild papaya and Zheng’an white tea. Moreover, its guitar-making craftsmanship enjoys nationwide renown, earning it the titles of “Hometown of Chinese Wild Papaya”, “Hometown of Chinese White Tea” and “Hometown of Chinese Guitar Manufacturing”.

Stepping into the square, a lively atmosphere hits you instantly. Forty-five distinctive exhibition booths are arranged in order, with a constant flow of visitors. Fifteen agricultural specialty enterprises from Zheng’an County bring products with distinct geographical characteristics: Zheng’an white tea, which boasts high amino acid content, is available for on-site tasting with preferential activities; Zheng’an guitars also have a dedicated booth, allowing visitors to experience their craftsmanship and timbre up close.

In the most popular food zone, traditional Zunyi flavors such as mutton noodles, triangular rice cakes and handmade chili sauces are on display, presenting the rich and mellow tastes of the mountains in northern Guizhou. Twenty Greater Bay Area food stalls offering roasted meats, desserts and other treats bring the familiar local hustle and bustle. A Zunyi sauce wine exhibition area is also set up at the event venue for guests to taste and negotiate business deals. “I never expected to buy authentic Zunyi specialties and enjoy Zhuhai’s local delicacies right at my doorstep,” said Aunt Li, a local resident who specially brought her child to the event.

This carnival also features a variety of cultural interactive activities. During the event, programs such as tea art performances, Chinese martial arts, Sichuan Opera face-changing and guitar singing are staged daily, along with interactive prize-winning sessions hosted by emcees to enhance the fun of the visit. Meanwhile, children’s amusement facilities and rest-and-negotiation areas are equipped on-site to facilitate the participation of parent-child groups.

As the New Year’s Day holiday approaches, this carnival provides an ideal destination for citizens and tourists to savor the mountain-sea charm and enjoy a wonderful “food time”. Through a combination of product sales, cultural displays and industrial negotiations, the event builds a platform for consumption cooperation and cultural exchange between Zunyi and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, helping to establish a two-way circulation pattern of “Guizhou products going out of the mountains and Guangdong products entering Guizhou”.
