On December 26, Meng Fanli, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee, Governor of Guangdong Province and Secretary of the CPC Shenzhen Municipal Committee, paid a visit to the Shenzhen Municipal Bureau of Letters and Calls. He met with visiting residents face – to – face, conducted on – site research to address their appeals, and emphasized the need to thoroughly study and implement General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important thinking on strengthening and improving people’s letter and visit work. He stressed adhering to the people – first principle, always keeping in mind the political responsibility of solving problems for the people and alleviating worries for the Party, wholeheartedly and affectionately doing a good job in the grassroots – oriented public work that comes knocking at the door, and continuously enhancing the sense of gain, happiness and security of Shenzhen citizens.
Meng Fanli entered the reception hall for visitors, gained a detailed understanding of the work such as receiving residents and handling letters, and listened to the briefing on the letter and visit work. In the reception room, he carefully looked into the problems raised by the visiting residents, asked in detail about the causes of the relevant issues and the progress of their handling, and conducted on – site research with the responsible comrades to improve the solutions, responding to each issue one by one. He emphasized that the interests of the people should always be given top priority, public work should be carried out with sincere feelings and a strong sense of responsibility to promote the resolution of problems. Meanwhile, we should learn from one case to improve institutional arrangements, striving to promote the handling of “a category of matters” through solving “one specific matter”.
During the visit, Meng Fanli visited and extended sincere greetings and heartfelt thanks to the front – line letter and visit cadres. He pointed out that letter and visit work is an important part of the Party’s public work and a crucial window for understanding social conditions and public opinions. All regions and relevant departments should deeply recognize the importance of doing a good job in letter and visit work under the new situation, strengthen and improve public work with the times, effectively put the people – centered development thought into action and reflect it in the continuous improvement of people’s well – being. We should comprehensively improve the quality and efficiency of letter and visit work, comprehensively use legal, policy, economic, administrative means as well as methods such as education, mediation and persuasion, continuously improve the effectiveness of source governance of letter and visit issues, and strive to resolve contradictions and disputes at the grassroots level and in the embryonic stage. We should unswervingly follow the Party’s mass line in the new era, adhere to and develop the new – era “Fengqiao Experience” and “Pujiang Experience”, fully implement the system of “Four Going – to – the – Grassroots”, promote leading cadres to receive visitors and go to the grassroots regularly, and effectively resolve the reasonable and legitimate interests and demands of the people. We must adhere to and strengthen the Party’s overall leadership over letter and visit work, improve the responsibility system for letter and visit work, and build a high – quality and professional team of letter and visit cadres who are loyal and reliable to the Party, abide by the responsibility of serving the people, and are good at doing public work, so as to continuously improve the quality and level of letter and visit work.
